Still in the game

Davidhwang thank you for the positive update! A thread to hang on to.

Off to the Houston Rodeo today to take my youngest to see Maroon 5 and have some fun one-on-one time...poor little guy. He has taken a backseat in all of this and he has been a trooper! My mind will still be thinking about DS and that BFE! left strict instructions with hubby and DS to call me as soon as they get the mail!

Still waiting here in NH also. My DIL graduated from USNA last yr, she called a friend who works in admissions a few weeks ago . The friend looked at my sons file and said he is qualified , but no decisions had been made yet , we are waiting on a pesky waiver for his eyes .
He has 2 nominations senator and congresswoman. I am more stressed than he is right now. He was accepted to Norwich and was awarded an $ 80,0000. Merit scholarship , but Norwich is his safety school . He would rather do Boston University or Northeastern doing PLC. We are still waiting to here from them too.

How many of you play this game in your head.... it's Thursday, if they decide today then it shipped out by Monday, we should receive it by Thursday... ughh nothing. It's Thursday, if they decide today.....

You get the point. I've been tempted to google how long it takes to get mail from Maryland to Arizona but it might mess up my current thought process.

Good luck to you all.

hopefull for all

I will say that I have read this thread each day, most days several times a day and smile and sometimes laugh. Still waiting as well but being in Maryland I know if it is mailed on Friday my DS will have a great weekend!! Just one day turnaround. We would be willing to save them the postage if they called; we would be more than willing to drive the 25 mins to pick it up!! Thank you Everyone for making this stressful time fun!

How cool that you're so close. That will make the visits easy. Everyone get in good with HopefullMdDAD. Possible 2nd home for our DS and DD. :)

hopefull for all

My4USMC I think they forgot New England. We are waiting in MA!

This post has taken on such a fun dynamic, and it's such a help knowing others are in the same mode! Each morning I'm sure that today will be the day, and I imagine another way to let DS know the news...
This experience as a Service Academy parent is like no other, and that's one reason it's so helpful to have a community that understands everything from the journey to (hopefully) get there, as well as the highs and lows that happen once they are there. We understand each other, and the crazy things we do - when my current mid was a plebe, I remember buying several boxes of Girl Scout cookies and going directly to the post office, putting them in a flat-rate box and sending them off. Walking out of the post office I'm stunned to realize that I'd just spent $25 sending my mid Girl Scout cookies - who does that?! Sheepish grin - I do...every spring! I have since learned that GS cookies are their own form of currency in Bancroft Hall! Still waiting for 2018 news here in SC - mid brother and friends will be here for the weekend, on the return trip to USNA from Spring break - secretly hoping the BFE arrives while they are here :)

You should start a new thread with helpful tips like that! My youngest is currently selling GS cookies. Wonder if I should buy more and bring them to PPW? Are thin mints the best or do you also send others? We send Hawaiian candies/chocolates to our oldest at Northeastern every once in a while. Are these good at USNA too? Even though DS got his BFE already I still like this thread and find it useful. It also makes me so appreciative that our wait is over!

I too check this thread many times a day. I appreciate commiserating with you all! Thanks for the laughs too....sorry the Price is Right sailors didn't equate to a BFE. LOL

I know that we won't hear anything until right up to the deadline so for now, I'm trying to be anxious about NROTC instead of both NROTC and USNA....not sure how well I am doing though.

No mail in MA today....at this point I am ecstatic when there is no TWE as it keeps DS still hoping for the BFE for another day. There really should be a warning label at the top of the USNA application saying that "filling out this application will result in a year of stress, sleepless nights and anxiety like you have never known before"...

Decided to keep calm and go shopping. Wouldn't you know it, I end up at Old Navy, God's signs are EVERYWHERE in that darn store! Then strolling through the mall are a couple of Marines. UGH! And yet again, no mail in So. Cal. Keep calm and carry on...

It's my birthday today so I was hopeful but no "good" mail in CT for either son. No bad news, either, and for that I am grateful. I've got my co-workers asking about my daily mail status...

Thanks for making me smile (laugh out loud actually) at that....old navy! so funny. Are you sure you are not my husband under an alias. He is doing the exact same thing! Everything is a sign. He gave the mailman a HUGE tip this christmas for good luck.

Not to mention that now that I have read that sometimes thoughtful postal carriers deliver the BFE to the front door, I have 2 places to check!
