Still in the game

Went to grocery shop with my sister while my DS was at baseball. My sister got the mail while I unloaded my bags. I noticed a big manilla envelope. My heart was pounding. Not the BFE, but a 4 year NROTC to Jacksonville Univ. I recognized the Department of Navy address from the application. Plan B in place, but still waiting for an answer. Went in the house and took an aspirin. This wait is agonizing!!

Guys! My hunch was correct! Today at the Service Academy information day, my Congressman took my family and I into a room and notified me of my appointment. I'm so excited. I hope all of you get good news very soon!

Congratulations and welcome aboard! What a great way to get the news!

Congrats, USA 95! Don't forget to post on the thread. And pray for the rest of us!

It's now 9AM on Saturday... I got up around 8:00AM. I took the dog out for his thing, ran a pot of java, grabbed the news paper, sat back read some crazy political stuff to get some humor in my day and then went to wake up my son.

Stopped at his door, did not wake him, just took the moment to just remember how I just saw him. He was snuggled up in a warm blanket at 9AM sleeping with no worries, he is still my son at home. Not too many more days left like that for him or us. Closed his door, left him alone, remembering what I saw and here I am.

Remember the moments folks because it is all changing sooner rather than later.

The best to all...
Ex.BT.USN,

Thanks for sharing this. It has always been one of the hardest things for me as a mother to wake any of my children, from the time they were babies! So I, too, cherish those very, very few mornings when DS doesn't have to get up in the wee hours for one thing or another. It is really something to see a 6'4" 17-year-old "snuggled" up with a blanket. Very sweet, and moments for a parent to treasure.
