Still in the game

Please help me understand if I am way over thinking but in regards to my nomination, so far no one on the appointment thread has posted from my district but I also haven't heard anything since I got my nomination back in December. I went in, was the very first interview of the day:eek:, they said they love me and then a little bit later I got the letter saying I was nominated. All that being said, since there are no appointments from my district on the appointment thread I still have a good shot right? If I understood correctly each nominator only gets a few appointments, seeing as there are none from my district I am still truly "in the game" correct??:confused:

noticed that appointments happen and not always put on the forum thread. The best way to get accurate information is to talk to your MOC representative who handles the process. They know the real story in your district if you can get them to tell you.

Navy Generation Skip - I agree with you 100%. Reading all of the accomplishments of the nominees is amazing! I really don't know how the Admissions Board makes the final cuts! All so well deserving!

I admit I stalk the mailbox. Our mailman knows what we are looking for. The mail has been arriving at different times (morning then evening) the last two weeks further ramping up the anxiety. I've even stalked my two next door neighbors boxes a couple of days that we got no mail, thinking a substitute mailman may have made a mistake. (Both neighbors are anxiously waiting too and would love to accidentally get the letter!)

Now for confession.....I stalk the 2018 Appointment thread. I do. There, I said it. I am nervous each time it jumps to the top of all threads and shows up in "you haven't read this yet" bold letters. I look to see if any Tennessee appointments have happened. (There are two so far on the thread. Unless another is waiting there now. Have not opened it this morning yet!) I am always happy for those who post from all over. I read where they are from and where nom. came from. I also find it interesting if a parent or "lucky midshipman to be" types the post.

Along with all the angst though, there is a comforting peace knowing that there are still outstanding young people ready and prepared to make the leap from their nests. I too often have see a degree of selfishness with the young generation. Reading this thread, meeting Boys State Delegates this summer, hearing about the kids from DS's CVW, talking to the young man who will take DS's Student Body President roll next year all gives me hope....hope that this generation can and will help lead this country through the difficult season that I believe is soon headed our way. Pray for our sons and daughters. I will pray for yours. SA or not, they are the hope that our country has.

What district? DS has an appointment we are TN-01. He was notified of his principal in Nov. received the BFE in December. He's looking for future TN classmates so PM if your DS gets the BFE. Great luck.
 
I emailed my representative asking them if they had any information they could share with me, this is the response I received:
"Thank you again for contacting me. It is an honor to serve you in Congress. The service academies notify my District office of whom they will offer an appointment. Of the approximately thirty-five students interviewed, my office has received notification for about six of the nominees. Do not be discouraged for we will continue to receive notifications over the next month or two. If my office receives a notification that you are being offered an appointment then I will call you personally and tell you the news. Following this, the academy will mail you a letter officially making the offer of an appointment."
 
No mail in MA again today, ugh.... Well, we are all in the final countdown. Best wishes to all who are anxiously awaiting any news from USNA!!!!

Hello Tennesseans....

DS received the in late January from USNA. He has declined the USNA to accept his USCGA appointment. We are TN-06 and he received both Congressional and Senatorial noms. Hopefully his appointment will go to another well deserving Tennessean.

Best of luck to all of you still patiently (or not so patiently) waiting!

Congrats! We know quite a few Tennesseans waiting. Hope they all get good news soon. Great luck to your DS.
 
My DS got home first today. I was afraid to read the text, but, no mail. Still waiting in FL.

Just junk mail in PA today. Feels good to know we are not alone in this!
 
Class of 2018 has a hashtag of #USNA18 that has a couple of tweets from a BGO - below are 2 of his tweets:

BGO Perspective: #USNA18 10% inspiration, 15% perspiration, and 75% desperation.

Candidates: USNA Rejection letters being mailed out. Follow through on Plan B.

These tweets don't look very encouraging. DS emailed his BGO yesterday requesting an update on his file but hasn't received a response. Trying not to read too much into that but it's not easy to feel a little deflated.

Today's mail hasn't been delivered yet...
 
If DS has not received the TWE yet is this really good news or just my wishful thinking?

It's simply no news. I know that's hard to accept but think about how complex this process is and then throw in massive delays due to weather. After 25 military years my hubby will tell you that the wheels often turn very slowly. I hope you get great news soon-we are rooting for you guys.
