Still in the game

Hahaha! I think mailboxes change if they are good or evil daily! When I applied we didn't have portals and our acceptance letters came in TWEs. So regardless of the letter with a Navy return address we were clueless! I actually think the lack of websites and things made us less anxious for the wait. We got told we would know by April 15th so we just sort of went along oblivious to the whole thing. I do think these types of websites help make a more informed candidate which is great.

The mailbox stalking reminds me of after I got out of the Marine Corps. A lot of us were being recalled to active duty for Iraq. The recall BFE came from FEDEX. Anytime you saw the FEDEX truck on your street you stopped breathing for a moment or two and you certainly never ordered anything that would be delivered via FEDEX out of fear! I might have been the only person to downgrade free shipping that would take a week or more instead of 2 days. Best of luck to all those waiting for BFEs from not only Navy but other schools too. Exciting times for graduating seniors and their families as their futures unfold. For those still waiting, hope it's good news!

.......I want to discuss if your mailbox was a recruited mailbox or a blue chip mailbox and if it became a mailbox even though there were more qualified candidates to become a mailbox...........

Haha...Ratdawg81. Too funny :)

Let's not even get in to how much easier the process is for mail slots, or the advantages that PO Boxes have over normal mailboxes.

And the well represented unionized mailbox...

My .02: No one needs to sign off, this sandbox is big enough for everyone.

Will see if any mail arrived in NH in a few hours. I wonder too if my DS represented his feelings accurately in his BGO interview..that has been a big ? because he isn't one to talk about "feelings". His interview was early in the process...the growth by the end was incredible by the time he was done with the congressional and senatorial interviews...at the very least he has most certainly already matured so much through this entire process. Good luck everyone!!

No news in my non ra mailbox today. Time for a frozen cocktail I think.

Another day....another day..no news is good news....I guess...Good Luck to everyone waiting

Nothing in the mailbox today. Glad DD is still in the game, but the wait is dragging on and on. Good luck to all who are still waiting and to those who will be reapplying. Wonder which group DD will be a part of... 2018, 2019????

Nothing in the ole PO Box today.

Going into another wild weekend and preparing for the angst of aggregating 3 days of mail into one.

No USNA news here in VA.

Learned this morning that DS's NROTC application has not been boarded because his recruiting officer misplaced part of DS's file. The issue has been on his portal all this time, but when DS contacted him about it (which he has been doing since February), the recruiter said he was working on it. He'll make it into the final board and end up on the scholarship waiting list at any of the 3 USNA alternatives he's considering (assuming he's awarded a scholarship). I've been beating up DS for not being assertive enough. Now I feel badly about not giving DS the benefit of the doubt. How is an 18 year old supposed to know how to deal with the situation? It was hard enough for me, a reforming helicopter parent, to figure out how to attack the problem. I can't even apologize for riding him by giving him large quantities of his favorite food, chocolate. He gave it up for Lent.

Blessings to all who are playing a different game and to those still in it!

I feel your pain kayaker. DS checked his portal at George Washington and somehow an "electronic glitch" caused his SAT scores to never arrive so his application was rendered inactive. His guidance counselor called to see if they would accept them and they said no, that they had sent out an email warning of problems. Only problem, it ended up in DS's quarantine email file and he never saw it. Just another heartbreak....

HI All,
