Still in the game

Will be checking the mailbox in about 30 min. Keep your fingers crossed! Will let you all know what I find.

I think this info is that every potential plebe/cadet should read. When they are freaking out and wondering what they've done and is it normal to hate it already and they want to quit; they will know that everyone has and is going through it and it is normal and they can do it, just like their detailers before them.

Vista 123 posted a quote by her son last year, at Iday I believe, he said, "I knew it would be hard, I just didn't think it would be hard for me." That was kind of an epiphany for my son, he said, that is something I would probably say. It is something we can point to for him, that when it's hard, he isn't the only one feeling that way.

Happy hunting, everyone! Good luck today!

Yes. East coast mail box was full of mail today. Nothing from USNA though...still in it. Hoping for some BFE news from others today!

SWVa

Last week it seemed there was advance notice from Admissions that all those TWEs were going out...have we heard the same for this week? Or did they get the brunt of them done in last week's mailing?

Empty mailbox again. My mail lady had a package for us so needless to say my heart began pounding when I saw her dropping something in our porch!!!

So if admissions met yesterday is it also possible to receive a call today from the MOC?

Mailbox stalked and diving for the phone.

No news is good news....another day - another wait in NJ. Good Luck to everyone this weekend. Sunday is a reprieve...no mailbox drama

Still in the game here. Flood to follow...
Best of luck to all!

No news on the USNA front but DS did get a 4 year NROTC scholarship to UW Madison!! So we are celebrating that today and will continue to stalk the mailbox next week.

Congrats navymomwannabe, that is something to celebrate.. No news here in MA. Looks like we tomorrow and Monday will be the BIG days for news..
Best wishes to all

So you are accusing her of lying to make me feel better? You don't know my friend. Perhaps you are talking about 2 different instances. She is a very matter of fact person - she has never sugar coated anything.

Maybe it is time for you to reflect on whether the application to USNA was for your DS or for you. Obviously you are not letting go the fact a TWE was received. You should let DS make his own choice for school.
Facts are there were two candidates who did not take the oath on I-Day but no one ran away crying.

Per request, meet Bob the Mailman! He is my avatar. (If I uploaded it correctly.)

The look he has on his face is the "No Navy mail today" look. He was talking to DS. We get delivery to the door you see behind Bob, but when we see him on the other side of the street we race out to catch him so we don't have to wait 45 minutes for his return down our side.

Bob's wisecrack today was, "If it comes tomorrow, I will hang onto it until Monday." Everyone pray for Bob. We might have a missing mailman before too long.

Good luck today as you check your boxes.

It was all his idea - every bit of it. I would never tell him where to go to college as it is his life not mine. We are not a military family not do we know any military families so it was not even on our radar. We are more the NESCAC schools or liberal arts type. All I did was share a story a friend told me. That's it. And people are jumping on me for it.

And by the way..... Did any of your children ever get rejected by the school they dreamed of attending for years? Because if they haven't then you will never know what it is like to see your child that disappointed. Whether it be USNA, BC, Villanova, Harvard or U State School - it hurts no matter what their goals.

Sorry Prepswimmom, yes I suppose current and past parents and mids are jumping on you. That happens on this forum and I hate it when it happens to me too. It has happens to me frequently and it bums me out.

The problems with your statement were plentiful....
1. though it may not have been your intent it was perceived (at least by me if I am being honest) to have a ring of sour grapes
2. no one really bought into the idea that a person left because they were "unaware of a service commitment" --if you saw all the paperwork in the PTR packet you would know why this is doubtful
3. Nobody "ran from the yard"
4. if someone did "run from the yard" parents of midshipmen would all understand why and just be grateful ours didnt, not judge them for doing so or post it in a derogatory manner.

I hope your DS will be in the class of 2019 and my reasons will make more sense to you then. Good luck to your DS.
