Still in the game

I'll take them! Just got the "yes!" from my prom date today. That's about all the good news besides the TWE.

Just made my day! Have fun!!!
On that note, one of my sons friends thought it would be hilarious to ask ME to prom. I texted him: "no giant cookie, no poster, no balloons? NO WAY". Poor kid. Hahhahaha.

Have a fabulous time mdn18!

Whoa, whoa, whoa just clam the heck down people, Prepswimmom has been a great supporter, just leave her alone already or maybe Bob the crazy mailman will be on you. We all know that it hurts like hell when your kid works so hard and gets turned away. These are great lessons for our kids. Sometimes life is not fair, sometimes you don't get what you want, sometimes things are just plain f'd up, they need to learn to deal and so do we. College admissions do not make sense and it seems the SA's are even more of a mystery. My kid got rejected from his two top choices and ALL, yes all, of his "safety" schools, yet his plan "B" schools all accepted him. His counselor, his teachers, all who know him are shocked that every single state school he applied to rejected him... Okay, it happened. Now he moves on. As I always tell my kids, the school you decide to go to is not as important as other important life choice; who you marry & how you live your life, are much more important to your happiness and success. A student makes what they will out of whatever school they go to. You can choose to succeed anywhere.
NOW PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME YOU GOT A BFE!!!! Margaritas anyone?
wompwomp, you are wonderful.

No margarita here, thank you - I think I need something a little more sedate at the end of this "banner" week (haha). Perhaps a gin & tonic.

I am new to this. But no that I have figured out what all the BWE and TWEs mean, I can say we are still not so patiently waiting in MO...but I keep thinking no new is good news for DS

Welcome, spice. Yes, aren't the acronyms fun?

Glad you are still waiting :thumb:

Mdn18, be careful, someone will ask you to post a picture of yourself in that tux, as your avatar! Umm, not quite sure what your current avatar is...

I always joked to my parents about putting me into an induced coma until April 15th. Now, I wish that were possible. The game of waiting I can do....however, time has all but come to a halt the last few weeks. Every day seems longer than the last. I'm a person with very good memory usually. Now, I can't recall any events that happened two days ago. It has gotten to the point where April 15th, although it is less than three weeks away, seems like an imaginary date that can only be reached in my dreams, and that I'm stuck in some limbo of time that only gives the impression of progression.

I pray earnestly for good news to come, not only for me, but all of you.

Its like that movie"Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray where he wakes up and has the same day .. over and over again. Except in this movie we have Bob the mailman:yllol:

MiddyB that is exactly how Plebe Summer is! Just see it as good practice (hopefully there is good news for you). Prepare yourself mentally for a letter that says you are on the NWL and may not know for sure until May. Might not happen, but it could! You think this wait is hard, wait until you realize truely how long Plebe is (when you are in it, it feels never ending!).

No news isn't good, but it sounds like no bad news arrived. Hope there is good news for everyone waiting!

Here's my new theory...None of us heard anything this week because we are all receiving appointments and USNA is giving MOC a week to call us. Therefore, BFE'S will be in the mail next week!

I like this theory a heck of a lot more than NWL.

Long time viewer, first time poster. Waiting for the mail became an obsession so we took matters into our own hands. We stopped the mail, left the state and went on vacation. After a week in Florida, we do return tomorrow and all the mail will be waiting for us. I'm hoping there will be tux coupons (he will probably be going to 2) and a BFE.

Prepswimmom, You have a great spirit and remind me a lot of my own mother-she's passionate and slightly crazy...in a good way.
I have been reading this thread and definitely felt the ups and downs with all of you.
I posted once before and mentioned that I have an appointment to USNA, but I was undecided. The thing I wanted to mention is that I am also a recruited athlete. I also have 2290 sat's, top 3% rank, other ec's including academic awards, etc...It wasn't that I consciously choose to exploit my athletic participation, it's just always been a part of who I am. Your son sounds like a gifted athlete. I can't understand why he choose not to be part of the great Naval athletic tradition. It almost seems like he deliberately opted to not be recruited on principal. Please forgive me if I am wrong-that is just the impression I get.
I did all I could to present my best possible self to this process and that included my sports background. I won't apologize for that.
I wish you and your son all the best-he sounds great.

Tux Coupons

Hey Gang.....Bob delivered not one, but two $40.00 tux coupons for Men's Warehouse. I will mail them to anyone who needs one. Just let me know. DS can wear mine now. (Thats a big gulp admission.)

That said, here's a tip. Go to your local men's store and buy a black suit. Wear a white button up shirt and purchase a bow tie or borrow one. Your dad's black dress shoes will work fine. You'll get the same effect, spend about the same, and then you'll have a suit for use at graduation or college next year. Ask the store owner for a discount. He will appreciate the business and the ingenuity. (One of my best friends owns a clothing store and does this for young people and grooms getting married.)

Otherwise, hit me up, I've got coupons. WARNING....Bob will be the one to pick up your envelope from me. I will not send it in a TWE.

Tennessee Dad

Tennessee Dad, you and mailman Bob have brought such good humor to this thread when we needed it the most. Thank you. Wompwomp thanks for chiming in. Prepswimmom, i love you. Thank you for bringing us all together and not being afraid to show when you are hurting. You have always been the one to say out loud what many of us have felt. Joedoe..you sound like a great candidate, a fine athlete with great academics…what all Midshipman should be. I hope you chose USNA, they would be lucky to have you. Good luck to you all tomorrow and Monday!
