Still in the game. Rooting for all still in play, especially you, MiddyB. Your latest post was very moving
For all who have received the TWE, has there been any information given about possibly doing NAPS? Or any thoughts??

YAY, how fun!!! Have a great time. DS is also considering two schools in DC; GW and Catholic U.Well I have very exciting news for my long suffering forum friends -
my new pal mrs.m and I are meeting up in DC in two weeks while our DS's check out Plan B's. I am so EXCITED! Wompwomp, Navymomwannabe and all my other buddies we will have a drink and toast in your honor!
On March 24th my DS got the TWE. As you would assume he was heart broken; however, he had the A2 plan.
I refer to "A2" because I don't like calling NROTC a "B" plan as it gets you to the same goal of becoming an officer. The Academy, NROTC, OCS are really interchangeable, it's just depends on the road the candidate wants to take.
On Thursday we flew to his A2 school. The day was great... There was a lot of action on campus and we spent the first day doing his thing. And yes there was no way we could leave without spending $120.00 on a sweatshirt, "T" shirt and a bumper sticker. I did not like that part but who am I to take the day away. Day 2 was a bigger hit. We planned a visit through the visitors center and got to see more of the school. He also had the chance to talk to several students.
At 2:30 we went to the NROTC unit so he could meet with his freshman advisor. He toured the unit with a 3rd year mid, meet a current freshman and spoke with two LT's. I took the parental path and kept myself separated so he could be himself.
It was a grand slam. Everything went quite well for him and everybody in the unit were great. They know he was a academy candidate and let him know that they would support him completely if he were to apply again. They currently have a mid freshman that tried for the academy last year but did not got in, this mid reapplied and got in this year. The mid is not sure if he / she will now attend the academy because of the experience with the unit and the friends and bonds that were made.
There is light if you or your DS / DD does not get the BFE and the light comes quick. My DS will apply again but he was one very happy kid with the A2 choice and the NROTC unit.
Cheers to all!

Btw, my DS is a swimmer and Water Polo player who also decided not to try and get recruited. He said he wanted to be able to have time to try other sports (like rowing) and did not want to get locked down. After the TSW, which he got to his 2nd choice as well, he's now accepting recruiting trip offers from the other schools he was accepted to. Ugh, poor kids. Such big decisions.

wompwomp,Those are the two schools our kids are looking at! My DS - Catholic and mrs.m is GW. DC is such a great place for college. My husband went to Catholic law and loved it. Only problem, no NROTC, only Army. First we go to Norwich next week. Will your DS swim in college? Mine got a very enthusiastic email from Catholic coach so he's excited. Come meet us wompwomp!
