Still in the game

So sorry to witness this round of TWE's! Glad to hear that ROTC is coming together and with great schools!

I think for future readers, good advice would be, if you haven't heard anything by March...go visit your plans A2-4 and fall in love with them! Keep the academy dream alive in your head as long as you are on the island, but have a second love prepared in case the dreaded TWE arrives.

Blood bath has not reached the Midwest, still in the game in Chicago.

I know not getting your first choice is a disappointment. He's not interested in his West Point offer of appointment? Is he going to do the NROTC at VMI instead?

We will visit both next week. His big decision will be Army or Navy and where he will study to be an officer in the military of this great nation! They are all great choices. Nothing to be sad about....but yet we are, because he will be.

TWE received. Reapplicant, top college with 3.85 GPA and D1 athlete as well as legacy. Loss for words

Sorry to hear this news. This often does not seem to make a lot of sense. I so admire your perseverance in being willing to go through this twice. That speaks volumes. Best of luck to you as you move forward.

Well, a field problem in August on Fort Hood isn't exactly a catapult shot off a carrier, but the Army's got a lot of great careers. Because I'm biased, I hope he chooses USMA, but going to work everyday is a lot easier if you love what you do. A great quote from Sir Winston: "Those whose work and pleasures are one are fortune's favorite children."

Sad to see the TWE's arriving again......... on the island for another day

Very sorry to hear about all of the TWE's. I haven't heard anything yet down in Georgia, but each time I hear of someone on this forum getting a TWE I get more disheartened knowing how great each candidate is. Keep on keeping on!

All these TWE's. Shoot! It just stinks.

But all those Plan A2's are going to be great. It just hurts right now. Ugh.

Long walk back from the mailbox. TWE without waitlist options...Thank you for all the knowledge posted on this forum...It was greatly appreciated.

Plan A1 Options: 4 year ROTC Villanova; Appointment to USMerchant Marine Academy, and several other great colleges....

Plan B: BC, George Washington University, Wait list Georgetown.

Busy weekend ahead planning and deciding.

Good Luck to everyone. God Bless

I am so sad for you and DS. Too many great kids getting the TWE this year. It is heartbreaking.

Well, still on the Island out here in the boondocks of So Cal - have a feeling however that it is simply a matter of time before the TWE makes it's arrival on the "left coast"! ! DS going next week to visit his alternative "Plan A" so I think the timing will be good!
Wishing everyone a restful weekend !!!!

I am so sorry to read about all the TWE's today. I hope everyone loves their Plan A2's. In my books, everyone that chooses to serve their country and apply to an SA or pursue ROTC options are all just great kids and I know this parent is extraordinarily proud of DS and all the kids that survive this lengthy often heartbreaking process.

futuremid, I , too, am so sorry that you have received a TWE. I know of 2 midshipmen at USNA right now, that had to apply a third time, to gain their appointment. One was also very smart, very good college grades but was from a VERY competitive congressional district. His 3rd time was the one that worked. It is definitely more difficult if you live in one of those competitive districts. Whatever your Plan B is, stay focused on the goal, you can do this!

+1 CAmom2015

We met one of those at last spring's Academy Day in this area - that young man definitely had heart, and I know sitting there at the beginning of DS's first time through, we certainly did not truly understand what it meant that he had applied THREE times. He is a Plebe this year. Don't give up, if it's what you really want.

TWE here as well. Moving on to a wonderful alternative plan at a civilian school with a scholarship...thanks for all of the info and support...best wishes for a bright future for all.

More Waiting!

I have been watching this thread for a while and have been heartbroken when others have shared when receiving a TWE. My DS was nominated to USAFA, USNA and USMA but Annapolis has always been his first choice. He wants to study Aeronautical Engineering and be a Naval Aviator - he has since he was eight years old. Last month our MOC called to tell him he has been accepted to USAFA! He has also received an NROTC scholarship to attend Ohio State which was his plan B.

Today he received two TWE's with Department of the Navy return addresses. Upon opening the first he found the NROTC documents. (One bullet dodged)

He had convinced himself that the other contained bad news and opened it with a disappointed look on his face. To his surprise, the letter claims he has been wait listed! At least it is not a rejection, but now the wait will continue even after April 15th... Uggggh!

DS has every intent to take the USAFA offer and is currently filling out his forms. But if Annapolis should call... he will be going there.

Now an interesting note, if they wait until the last minute to call - USAFA report date is June 26th. I hope we know before then!
