Still in the game

Nothing in the mail today.
Should I wait until next week to call USNA and find out what is going on?
vietvet67, from the experience of many on here who have already heard, it seems to be that Saturday & Monday are big mail days from the previous week's Admissions Board meetings. So, depending on your location relative to Annapolis...

Selection Insight...Great Reading for Applicants

The following link is to a Naval Post Graduate School masters thesis providing in-depth insight into the selection mindset of the Admissions Board. EVERY applicant should read this to better understand how the Board is working to improve and ensure the quality of the naval officer corps, and how they assess you as a potential academy candidate and potential naval officer. It includes in-depth explanation of the Whole Candidate Score (WCS) as a tool implementing the Whole Candidate principle of selection. Great reading!

For those still wrestling with the questions of the role of Principal Nominations in the selection process, the answer remains the same.

See Chapter II, Section D, Sub-Section 2. Nominations

"A principal nominee is assured appointment..."

Still thinking of everyone as I await the USNA Class of 2018 selection fate of my DS.

Thanks prepswimmom. But, not staying on the coaster all summer.
750 math/2200 SAT, top 6 in his class, 12 varsity letters, all state, AP Scholar,
hundreds of hours of community service, NHS(leadership), 3 sport captain, leadership in school clubs, invited to Boston to meet the Dean of Admissions with only 3 other kids...honestly..who knows! He honestly could not have done anything more..I don't know what the formula is

Wow Granitemom that is quite the amazing young man you have! Navy's loss is Notre Dames gain. I do not understand the admissions process at all. Do you know who got in from your district?

Thank you everyone...nice to hear everyone's kind words. DS is ok with how things have played out, he is glad he at least knows now. We are all just processing it, including his brother headed to NASS in June, that is going to be a little tough to handle.

Good luck to all still waiting to hear!!

Is he in NROTC at ND?

Hi prepswimmom,

Yes, he was awarded NROTC at Notre Dame...NROTC actually chased him down for his paperwork, interviews, etc. He received scholarship shortly after finishing his app. That combined with some special invites and strong encouragement from USNA to get his app in asap leaves him and us scratching our heads. DS has elected to remain on the waitlist, emailed USNA to confirm, forwarded transcripts..again, and his principal sent a letter on his behalf.

We do not know who from our district, or NH received appointments.
Speaking to others we fear our BGO could be where the issue lies, some other strong candidates have been left behind that went through him.
