Still in the game

Even though I have not posted lately, Currey, you have been in my thoughts. It has been an especially wild ride for you and I know yor DS will wind up on the path destined for him. I am hoping it is USNA! Ultimately, I hope we all wind up in the Navy family together four years from now! We can rejoin holding hands and hoping for billets together! Mine has accepted his appointment to USMMA and we are all excited about what next year will being! Thanks to all for the support, humor and friendship through a very anxiety ridden time!

@ Currey

Wondering who asked your son not to compete his freshman year at another college if he does not get into Navy but gets in the next year?

Since I am very familiar with the sport your son does ( rowing) I am perplexed as to why they would ask such a thing. You and I both know that to take a full year off would be detrimental to his development as a rower. I wish you the best of luck ... it sounds like a difficult situation. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he gets the BFE and all this other nonsense can be "put to bed"!!

Another question to ask the "powers that be" is that since mens college rowing is not sanctioned by the NCAA why would he need to take a year off ?

Asked to train on his own. Even though NCAA does not sponsor a championship for rowing, D1 recruiting rules apply.

Never is there a normal sticky wicket in our house, so odd issues must be our thing ;)

@ Currey

That is a lot to ask of him ... I am sure it is not an easy decision . I am so hopeful that he gets the BFE ... I am always checking this thread to see any updates. I am positive that he would be a great addition to Navy Crew and the class of 2018 !!

I had a lot of posts to catch up on. Wow, I can only imagine how hard it is for everyone who was and is waiting till the last second to hear. Rooting for Currey's DS and family. Best to you today!

I also would like to thank you all for the support, laughs and friendship during this roller coaster ride.

Mrs.m, you said almost two month ago "No one can understand what craziness we are going through! I feel blessed to have you all of you!" and this is exactly who I feel.

Congratulations!

We got the word today. NAPS!

I have been checking in every once in a while over the last 6 months to check on your son's status. I am so thrilled for you, your family and your son! I was rooting for Navy the whole time!

Congratulations to the Class of 2018 and the future Class of 2019 (NAPS). I picked up the habit again of stalking this website over the last few months...and I have been blown away at the caliber of students being accepted and even more amazed at the outstanding individuals who received TWEs. I'm in awe and thankful for the commitment and desire these young people have shown to pursue such a noble endeavor as serving in the military whether via the academies or ROTC.

Thank you and best wishes to the young people and their parents.

Flying off to Plan B today as we look to firm it up and lock in for the long haul. Still no word and so we wait.

Currey, I check every day hoping you get some good news. I am sending positive thoughts your way. I'm still pulling for you!

Hi Currey! Just letting you know that we are still pulling for you in Southern California. I think of you everyday and say a little prayer. I cannot believe they could string you along this far and not get the BFE! So I am thinking positive.

I also keep checking in - still can't believe that so many of us didn't get the BFE. I can only pray that in a few years we can all look back and realize God funneled us where we were supposed to go.... my son will be at RIT in Rochester this Fall to study robotics.... he is excited so therefore I am - we all still wish it was USNA but it is what it is - still rooting for you Currey. Best wishes to all!

NJ-USNA2018hopeful,

RIT is an excellent place. DH has been there on recruiting trips for his company, and has been very impressed with their school of Engineering (he's an MIT grad, so not easy to impress...). Seriously, he loves their practical training facilities for engineers - the microelectronics fab, etc. Our DS got in there, but will be going where his ROTC scholarship is assigned.

All the best to your DS.

Currey any word yet? I am so frustrated for you. Keeping good thoughts!!

I would just consider us as being on our own special form of a wait list. Finishing paperwork on Plan B choice today and figuring that we will find out sometime between now and I-Day.
