I know that this has already been asked a hundred times, but when do the majority of applicants find out if they were selected or not? I feel very confident about my application and am looking forward to the results.

Summer seminar app answer

I honestly don't think (and I could be wrong) that there is a time where most people find out. Personally, my roommate and I found out at the end of December, but I know others did not find out until much later. I also live in Alaska, so I think that helped my application. Good Luck!

Some people found out the day after. For me, I found out in early January, and the latest I heard was people finding out the end of February. So it really depends. This was just my personal experience though; people might find out later than that.

My experience from watching very closely last year was that the superstars hear early or shortly after they submit their applications but the vast majoirty of applicants (sub 1500 SATs) hear in March after the final deadline.

1500s is 2 part. I wouldn't consider myself a superstar and I was accepted within a week or two after applying. My SAT was 1250 at that point (math and reading) and ACT was 28. Test scores are not everything. It will be difficult to tell when you will hear back, but the sooner you apply the better.

I submitted my application mid-December and found out mid-January. It just depends because some people can get it months, weeks, days, or even hours after they submit their paperwork. Just wait and check ONCE a day, tempting to check more but you are wasting your time by obsessing over it. Patience is key. Good luck to you!

Worried

Oh my goodness. I just turned in my application but I am getting seriously nervous about my GPA and Math SAT score! (Sorry. I'm sure that everyone sees this type of nervous post too many times but I need at least a little reassurance haha)

GPA: 3.75
Math SAT: 660
Reading SAT: 800

Could I get a little feedback? I would be really grateful :)

At this point, your GPA and Math SAT score are what they are. No one here can tell you if you will be accepted to SS. But remember that whether you attend SS or not has no bearing at all on receiving an appointment next year. Every year there are appointees who were not accepted to SS and SS attendees who do not receive an appointment. So focus on those things under your control. Outstanding SAT Reading score. My DS also had a perfect ACT Reading score. He, like you, needed to work on increasing the math score. USAFA superscores using the highest score from each SAT section. So you are done with Reading. Just focus on the Math. Also make sure you continue to work on Leadership as USAFA is looking at the Whole candidate. Boys/Girls State is a good one for leadership. In fact if you must choose, Boys/Girls State is more important to your USAFA application than SS.

The year I went it did seem like the acceptances to Summer Seminar were rolling. Maybe there was a change this year? USAFA's Admissions page on facebook posted this morning:
"Hope you all had a great weekend! Considerations for Summer Seminar will not begin until after the closeout date on 31 January 2013, so it is to your advantage to complete your application to the fullest! You will be notified if you have been selected on 15 February 2013!"

Things are a little different this year. The plan is that no considerations for summer seminar will be made until after the close for applications on january 31st. You will find out on february 15th. So we recommend you put in the best application you can. Best of luck. Mike.
