Sagen,
You have never offended me, and I am sure never offended anyone else. I hope I have not offended you with my questions. That is the problem with an internet forum, it is not in real time, and nor can you decipher intonation within the post.
i already am in college with 2 1/2 years under my belt. I AM 19 YEARS OLD WILL BE 20 IN a couple of months. i posted the other thread because i was still going to do Air Force ROTC to see if they have that job or similar in the AF, if not i would then transfer to Army ROTC
Please refer to my other post you created which is about AF to Army for other issues.
The fact is this thread should have started in the DODMERB forum. It is a DODMERB issue because you will be physically removing it from your body, which will require healing time, and can have side effects.
I am not a doc, but IMPO, I don't see it is an issue even if it requires a waiver because I believe the waiver would be granted.
I mean this is kindness, but if the AF is your path, the tat is the smallest of the issues.
The AFROTC CC stated that had to be removed, but what did they say about your chances for SFT?
SFT is determined by a lot of things, scholarship recipient is not one of them.
1. Major
~~~ Are you tech or non-tech? Tech gets points for OML over non.
2. GPA
~~~ 3.0 as a non-tech with or without a tat, will hurt you...gpa is a part of the OML
3. PFT
~~~ Assuming you are not in ROTC now, have you done the PFA? What are your scores?
~ Assuming from your avatar, you are a girl, since the hair is too long for a guy. What is your run time? Sit ups? PFT under 95 will HURT. PFT is part of the OML
4. Commanders Rec
~~~ Is the biggie, and the fact will be that they will know the cadets that have been there since freshman yr. They are not going to play favorites with them, but SFT packets are sent in after fall semester, that means you have 1 semester to shine.
No SFT = no commissioning.
Many, many cadets that join as a soph, do go to SFT, even with waivers, but they have the whole package from majors to grades to PFT to jobs in the det.
Start talking to the det. Let them groom you for SFT. You do not want to be a name without a face to connect.
I have to say, you are state you have 2 1/2 yrs in college. Assuming you did Jump Start in HS, but your posts do not state that you have 2 1/2 yrs at that college, or you did Jump, and went 2 yr college, now transferring to a 4 yr.
The tat waiver is not your real problem for the AF. If your graduation date is 2013/14, that is your real problem. 2 1/2 yrs means you passed the SFT marker which occurs at the end of 2 yrs. It means you expect to graduate in a yr that was hit hard by AFROTC.
Now if you did 2 1/2 yrs with Jump, and expect to transfer over to a 4 yr in Dec. and graduate in 15 the scenario changes again regardless of the tats.
