telling parents

To our OP: this is really just the start of decision you will make where there is an element of "how do I tell my parents" involved. Whom you marry, what you do with your time off, even what car you buy, will all be fair game down the road, and many parents will want their say in these decisions and more, AND, won't mind giving you their 2cents either.

All that said, ChristCorp has some great ideas there, and having a plan shows both maturity and perseverance and good judgment. Perhaps even approach Mom and Dad with a spreadsheet, with your options. They'll be impressed, and think you grown up and serious.

It is a very mature decision to know what you want and to take the measures to accomplish it. You are but young, I have a hard time believing that a parent would not be more than proud to join you in accomplishing your dreams. Go get it, be passionate and take the measures to accomplish your goals. That means hit the grades, be involved, continue doing what you are doing.

Try watching some of the videos on the web site with your parents or tell them some stuff that you think is awesome or you would not experience at a normal college.

PS: As an Army kid and wanting to go to USMA or USAFA BEAT NAVY!!!! Thats always a fun tradition at the academies to go to the football games.

I commend you for wanting to make this decision. Just tell them. Flat out tell them that you want to go and ask them what you think. I was nervous myself, but realized that they could only help me. Tell them. And good luck with admissions!
Hope to see you in the future!
