I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for assisting us over the past couple of years. When our DD decided she wanted to attend the USMA we quickly found out it would be no easy feat to accomplish. While we only posted here a few times we gathered a lot of information from reading the posts. She made her first phone call to us from beast yesterday and we received 2 letters today. She's doing well, and looking back on it all at times it seemed nearly impossible but somehow it came together. Thanks again.

Congratulations to your DD :thumb:

Hopefully, with the help I am getting in these forums, I will be joining her in the long gray line!

That just wonderful, please tell your DD. Thanks for serving our country the United States of America.

God Bless and God Speed,

RGK

I know it was thrilling for you to hear her voice and priceless to get those 2 letters today.
Congratulations to her AND her parents :thumb:

I want to echo the thanks from the original poster. Our DS is also a New Cadet. The information we gained from this site was extremely helpful in the journey to date.

If you think this is great, you might like West Point Moms on facebook. Unless of course you're not a mom...then you need to find a different group :thumb:

Congrats! First phone call is a great day for the new cadet. Almost two weeks down for the NCs.

I still remember my first phone call home. I wasn't as stoic as I thought I would be when I heard my mommy's voice :)

My gratitude is also shared. Our journey started here and after many posts and countless helpful replies, daughter is at Beast. She said the hardest thing to get use to is getting up early every day, but she loves it (her first 3 mile march was excruciating :frown:). She expressed in her recent phone call that she is so thankful for all the opportunities West Point is offering her. DD decided to study Mandarin Chinese as her foreign language along with mechanical engineering. I asked her why she just didn't choose Spanish since she has already taken throughout HS; her reply--"Mom, I'm not interested in just repeating my high school years. I want to challenge myself and learn as much as I can these next few years." In just 2 weeks--very long 2weeks for me--West Point changes have started to occur! I know she is where she belongs. It is still so surreal to see her sign her name as "New Cadet ________ __________".

6 more days until my next phone call and 34 more days until A-Day!

Blessings to all and thank you from the bottom of my heart!
