I took the CFA and I am considering retaking it to do better, however if I were to improve and do better would it make a noticeable difference in my overall score for the Academy? Here are the scores I received :

    Basketball throw- 72 feet
    Pull ups- 17
    Shuttle Run- 8.8 seconds
    Modified Sit ups- 95
    Push ups- 74
    One Mile Run- 6:49

Realistically I know that I can do that one more to max push ups/pull ups. B-ball throw I can add six feet. Shuttle will not improve much. And the mile if I run my PR, get 6:20. With that in mind for improvement, would it make a difference if I were to retake the CFA?

    Thank you,
    BRupert17

In my opinion it will not increase your overall score by getting 1 more pullup or running 20 seconds faster. If u were my candidate I would say submit those scores. It starts to matter when certain areas are border line poor. yours arent in that category.

havng said that, i dont know the rest of your application. You could have a 26 act and thus need all the help you can get. Only you know that. I've seen the 4.0 gpa 31 plus act, #1 ranked varsity captain, IB etc. Applicant who I said similar cfa were good enough. But if you arent the #1 in your class taking all IB or AP classes with the 4.0 gpa, then it might benefit you. only you can decide.

Could someone give me a quick clarification please: were the CFA scores you posted from a "trial run"? I thought you could only take the CFA "officially" 1 time.

You can TAKE the CFA 2,305,056 times. (Give or take a million). You can only SUBMIT THE SCORES 1 time. So, if you take the CFA and you don't like the scores, then don't submit them. Take the test again later.

CAVEAT: "You know there's ALWAYS a BUT". Your PE teacher, ALO, or whomever is proctoring the CFA test for you, MIGHT get a little annoyed if you are asking them for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. time. They have a life too remember. Their world doesn't revolve around yours. So, taking it a 2nd time is quite acceptable. Beyond that really has NO EXCUSE. You can practice on your own; have mom/dad help you; etc... Then, when you're ready, take it officially and record the scores.

But hopefully the first paragraph answered your question. You can take the test as many times as you, or the test proctor wants to. You can only submit the scores 1 time.

My son took a practice CFA several times and I administered those practice ones. When he decided he was ready he made arrangements with a PE teacher and took and had the CFA test submitted. He only bothered the PE teacher once. He had a different coach administer his AFROTC, AROTC, and USCGA PFE exams. There can be a lot of these tests to administer so I would recommend not wasting your coach or PE teachers time with tests until you know you are ready.

Thanks. That makes sense. I guess when I read the first post it sounded like they had submitted their scores and wanted to do the CFA and submit again. I clearly misunderstood. JR

As CC said..."If you were my candidate..."

    1. SUBMIT THESE SCORES
    2. FORGET about the CFA
    3. Focus upon your application, SAT/ACT, and resume/interview skills

    "IF" you were MY candidate.

Are there waviers for height and weight standards for candidates?

Hello, I was wondering does anyone know if the height and weight standards can be waviered? Are there other standards that can be applied if the individual doesn't look fat but have big bones and muscle mass.

Yes, you can get a waiver for weight. It is body fat less than 20%. After you apply and send in your physical, you will have an extra form to fill out by doctor or school nurse. FYI, they use tape measure body fat, neck and waist only for men. (google tape measure body fat for the formula to see where you are)
