As I'm in town here at WP, I cruised the barracks this afternoon following my workout at Arvin (the Corps has!) and what do I see? Gone are the Unicor prison industries beds, replaced by slick new beds which have the mattress atop a lidded box. The lid and mattress tilt open like a trunk with the help of pneumatic pistons. Gone are the days of cramming your trunks under your bed!

Alright you crazy old grads, feel free to trot out your "the Corps has..." tales.

Hey SP, go through E-3 and look for one, of the two NC's that qualified expert in the M-4, and tell him I'll see him next week and that I love him. :thumb:

In this case, "the Corps has..." hasn't been for very long. They just got those beds after Thanksgiving last year. But, yeah, they are nice. Saw them at PPW.

Too bad they didn't get the new AC installed yet!

Unfortunately they also got new (smaller) desks and chairs -- which they detest.

Tell me you are kidding. My tax dollars at work.
I can't see how they can air condition those barracks. Honestly, there really is no need of it for a few hot days in the summer.
I would think adequate heat and windows that are not broken would be a higher priority. Personally I would rather have a hot room that one where the zero degree wind whips in through the crack in the window. But that's just me -.

Careful. I was shouted down and dubbed a first-class A-hole for suggesting that after 208 years it's been pretty well proven that there is no need to A/C the barracks.

    God forbid anyone be uncomfortable.
