Last "history teacher running wild on the internet" post for now, I promise.
For the Civil War history buffs out there, a great free resource is an entire course by Yale Professor David Blight on the Civil War and Reconstruction (available for free and downloadable on iTunes). Lots on the politics and culture in both North and South leading up the war, some good stuff on the war itself, and interesting insights on Reconstruction and the memory of the war (Blight is the author of the "Race and Reunion" book I mentioned).
