So as the March deadline has passed for 2nd Board winners to accept their scholarships, will all the unclaimed scholarships roll into the number of available scholarships for the third board OML hopefuls to be considered for? Further, what about those young men and women who accepted the scholarship, but then change their mind later if they are accepted to a SA for example. Do those "turn back" scholarships return to the 3rd Board OML hopefuls, or are they absorbed by whatever school the cadet was planning on attending before they left for a SA? Also, does this mean that scholarships from the 3rd Board could potentially continue to roll out until the end of April (since everyone has to commit to a college by May 1)? Thanks for any insights anyone can offer on this...

Cadet Command is going to figure out how much money is left for third round offers. Once those offers are made and either accepted or declined then there may be additional scholarships available that will be farmed out to the Brigades. Last year it was in the form of 3AD offers. This year, who knows. Any funds recouped from no shows in the fall will be reallocated to the Brigades, usually about mid semester and will be awarded based on campus based boards.

Generally 2-3 weeks after the board date, which I believe was 3/9. Expect results by the end of March.

Last August we were at a dinner for scholarship winners (both 3 and 4 year) at Norwich, which took place several days before the regular arrival day. We were sitting with a boy who found out he won a 3 year 2 days before the dinner. So, it can happen that some are given at the last minute. Good luck to all who are waiting!

Most of the scholarships that are given to cadets just prior to starting school are offered through the Battalion/Brigade. By this time the Battalions know what they have to offer since all the National scholarships have been accepted or declined.

No matter how they get one it's still great news. Another good reason to keep in touch with the battalion at the school you decide to attend if you do not receive a National Scholarship. Selecting a school who's battalion has made contact and expressed high interest in you attending their program is another good sign.
