My son has a 33 ACT, two all-state sports (baseball and soccer), STEM president, National Honor Society VP, a state-recognized community service project, Congressional medal, and a long resume. Medically cleared. But no appointment from either USAFA or USNA.

Just wanted others to know that some great kids are still waiting (and might be passed over).

It's only January, there are still many appointments to be sent out.

Had one son Get an appointment to USMA , USNA, and full ride ROTC VMI, Didn't even have exceedinly high scores 29 Super score ACT and 3.4 GPA, He apparently was an extraordinary interviewer, I was able to listen in on some of his ROTC and saw the interactions.

Next Son Looked better on paper, 3 Nominations, No Appointments. OUCH..

There are so many factors. You have to be proud just to be considered with this caliber of young people. then decide if you are going to hit it another Round.

We are playing the waiting game now with Candidate #3 , Brother of my Sons wife? Does that make him a Son-in-Law?

The overwhelming majority of all the "great kids" won't hear anything for about a month, which is when it will really just start. In spite of those that have posted receiving appointments on the forum, which represent a very small fraction of the much bigger picture....it's early.

Yes only January but still waiting.
Eagle Scout, Varsity team captain and letter, club president, First in Class, Perfect GPA both weighted and unweighted, 800 math and disappointing 680 critical reading...
Hopefully I am not like @LDH DS "looks good on paper, but no appointment.
We will wait and see. And yes my plan B's are in place.

States like Tennessee still haven't released most of their nominations.

Oh yes didn't mean to imply it is late in the game. Think about it the Application window is not even closed yet, and a lot of Nominations are still pending. They are not going to make a lot of decisions until they have all the apps and Nominations. Our No-appointments, were last year, Our Mid is Class of 2017. He got all his Appointments on Valentines day. I had forgotten that but he didn't.

It is still very early in the process.
