Transferring that Scholarship Offer

DD followed prescribed transfer protocol learned from this forum, but request was declined; she was notified by email from CC yesterday. I'm hoping that means the rest of you will also get an answer prior to May 1st!

Sorry to hear that, 831copper. How long ago did you make the request? And did you receive any acknowledgement when you sent it in? I am getting a bit freaked out that we haven't heard a peep from CC.

So, what is the plan now for your DD? Will she still join ROTC at the denied school? Or stick with where the scholarship was approved?

Sorry, just read your post on page 1 of this thread so I see your plan now.

OBTW, just out of curiosity how did the two of you find out about this site? Was it your own internet exploration or did a cadet tell you of this site?
Can't remember how I ended up on the site...think I was researching some DODMERB question. I have always been active on social media. I was using AIM to chat with prospects back in the day. My peers thought I was crazy, but I have helped a ton of prospects/applicants on social media.

I am so thankful that I found this site and for all of the advice from clarksonarmy and others! I don't know how I would have made it this far without losing my mind. We have had so many questions about the whole process and the information we have gotten here has been invaluable! I think every school's should ROTC department should have someone monitoring these boards and giving good information to help promote their program. If people have a positive experience navigating the system, word spreads and better recruits are more interested. It helps everyone out! When you have a negative experience, you turn good prospects away.

So keep up the good work, clarksonarmy, marist, etc. You guys have helped so many people on this site! Thank you!!

P.S. Just to update. We still have gotten no word from Michael Sutton at CC or ROO at CNU. So frustrating. Should we send a follow up email or place a call?

Clarksonarmy or Marist may have a different take on this, but I think calendar wise you're past the point of politely waiting. I would call AND email until I got hold of someone in authority. All based on 'squeaky wheel gets the grease' at least with respect to getting a response.

Thanks. I was feeling that way, too. I just didn't want to step on toes and seem like a pain before DS even enters the program.

Make sure it is your son that makes the first follow up call to the ROO, doesn't really matter if you or he calls CC.

In this day and age it is all about networking! Shame on the others for not being savvy enough to find the SAF site!

OBTW, just out of curiosity how did the two of you find out about this site?

I was researching some information about USMA for a prospect that was torn between USMA and ROTC. At the time I didn't even know there was a separate ROTC thread !

OK, so I got a response from CC that DS request for a transfer has been posted as received, but the decision was passed to a lower command. CNU does not have a PMI directly assigned to it, so the evaluation may not be complete until mid to late May. I am going to have DS call the ROO at William and Mary when he gets home from school and see if there is anything he can find out from that end.

Any other advice?

Its May 1...any transfer news out there?

I've paid the deposit for 2 schools for DS. Now we are just waiting and its driving me nuts! Does anyone else have any news on their transfer requests?

Sorry to hear your families are still in limbo....it got worse for us in May too. Everyone was so excited about their plans and graduation and we were still unsure where exactly DS was going(and how to pay for it...). Hang tough and I hope both of your kiddos get the answer they are eagerly awaiting(and VERY soon:thumb:)

You probably won't hear anything until all offers are responded to. Cadet Command has to wait to see whats left before they make the next set of decisions. Hopefully you are talking to admissions and Battalions at all schools involved. Don't be afraid to ask for extensions from admissions. Worst that can happen is they say no.

Well a few things may be getting processed. Late yesterday afternoon my DS got an email with a letter attachment telling him that his transfer request had been approved. (Yay!) As I had previously posted it probably helped that he already had a scholarship to his transfer-to school that dropped the delta between the in-state school and the OOS school by about 2/3's. My DS also had what he reported as a very good conversation with the ROO of his transfer-to school last week. We don't know if that played into the decision or not.

Unfortunately, feeling I couldn't wait any longer, I put the check in the mail to the original scholarship school on Monday night. Now I'm hoping I can call today and get them to tear it up as I'm sure it didn't arrive yesterday.

Still haven't heard anything about my DS's transfer. Anybody got any good news?

Well, they told us it may be the end of May... and they sure meant it! DS got an email yesterday, May 31 at 5:17pm, from CC that his transfer was approved!!! So happy for my boy, and he is so relieved!

Now on to the preparation for the APFT, and whatever else we have to do!

I hope others will get some happy news about their transfers as well.

Thanks for all of the advice.

So glad it all worked out for your DS(and your family too). Had been watching to see if you or any of the other families got some great news to share about transfers.

Enjoy the summer - and of course, tell him to RUN - a lot:thumb:

Awesome news! I had just been wondering if you had heard anything. Whew! I know the waiting had to be so stressful. Congratulations! :thumb:

Congratulations on the transfer. Now that you've been through the process, you'll be the one giving advice.
