Found out that a classmate of my D's got appointment to AFA. So that's two from a class of just over 100. I think it says a lot.

Congratulations to all who get appointments and thank you for your committment.

Well done parents. <<Pats self on back>>

I am a homeschooler but I am in a high school program that prepares and sends kids to college when they are ready in high school. Although there are over 300 kids in the program, this is it's first year and there are only 9 seniors graduating. Me and my friend both have appointments. We were joking that 20% of our graduating class will be attending the academy. Next year the graduating class will be much larger.

    Later,

    Brian

    Congratulations!

I'm claiming bragging rights though; I had two in the same (homeschool) class. (100%).

My son and a young lady classmate of his both got appointments and have accepted to the AFA. They are the first two to ever apply to a SA. Their class size is 102. They will have gone thru 11 years of school together if they both graduate.

Two appointments out of my son's graduating class of 65 seniors from a private high school. One to USMA(accepted), one to USNA( declined). It was the right decision for both. :thumb:

Wow, that is fantastic. Definitely some good schooling going on. In my son's school, he was the 1st who accepted an academy appointment in about 5 years. Since him, none the last 2 years. We do have some that apply, just not accepted. We did have 2 in the 5 year gap get accepted, but one chose Yale and the other chose Stanford instead. But it is great to see more coming from the home school and the smaller schools. My son's class graduated 450. Not huge, but not tiny. Seems like the smaller schools have more interest in the academies. Our school however does usually get a handful or so a year who enlist in the military. And usually another handful or so that want to go ROTC through our local University. Either way, anyone who is willing to serve their country, whether through the academy, ROTC, OTS, enlisted, guard or reserve; you all have my greatest respect and appreciation. Best of luck to all of you. mike....

If I receive an appointment to USMA in two years (Some time off now!) I would be the first in 6 years. At the moment my class is 136 but is dropping. Two of my friends want to go to a SA but they do not sound very serious about it.

My school has had 4 even start an academy in the last 15 years. One currently a cadet, one declined the appointment, one made it to the NWL, and I forget about the last one.

This year we have one kid attending AFA, USMA, and USNA. Last year we had 4 kids graduate from Annapolis that had all graduated from our high school together and in the past 5 years, we've had 9 appointees to USNA

Roughly 1800 kids. Our county is apparently the best in the nation for education and we're less than an hour away from Annapolis so that has a lot to do with it.

Never knew there was a nationwide county ranking. What's the criteria?

Where can I find this ranking? Is it a county wide school system, Cracked?

Out of a class of 720 students, my friend going to USCGA and myself going to USMA are the only service-academy bound students.
