USAFA Cadet passes away

Exceedingly strange and tragic

Tragic, yes. The mother's grief was too much for her to take.

Strange, yes, especially because of the odd official statements made by the academy about his death when it occurred.

I can imagine without knowing more details, discovering his body with so many stab/knife wounds probably led them to think homicide before suicide - hence the cryptic and confusing statements. Certainly strange circumstances leading up to his death that makes you wonder if the drug combo in his system had some really bad side effects. Got to feel for their family, such a tragic loss for a father/husband and brother/son.

Yes, strange because of the manner of death, the timing coming just hours after dental surgery, and the apparent lack of suicide signs seen by loved ones.

I'm no suicide expert but multiple self-inflicted stab wounds sounds out of the ordinary.

And like hornertguy said, I can see why the academy might have given ambiguous or cryptic statements until they figured it out. Bizarre all the way around.

The quote from the father....

"She went to take care of Alex, and I'm here to take care of Peter," Jose told The Gazette. "That's something I have to take very seriously."

Heartbreaking on every level. My prayers to their family; here and there.
