USAFA Waiting Page C/O 2028

Hello! Brand new to posting here but I have been stalking the threads for a few months. My son has completed the application process and has all the green checks. Now we wait with our fingers crossed! I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who does post regularly as it helped us a ton through the application process...it is definitely NOT for the faint of heart!! Good luck everyone!
Green check including a nomination?

Mom of a USAFA cadet and a hopeful 2028 academy cadet/mid - LOA's seem to be most often given to recruited athletes, I am aware of a few who have received them and aren't recruits, but that seems to be much fewer and further between. Keep in mind that even with an LOA, they still have to successfully complete DoDMERB, receive a nomination, and also successfully finish senior year.
Boy #1 received an LOA in October and a mid November appointment. Boy #2 never received an LOA but had a 1 Nov appointment. Neither were recruited athletes. The LOA process is truly a mystery. Boy #1 also received a TWE from USNA.

Hey! GA teacher mom. GA mom here. We are Dist 6 and the noms just went out. What part of GA are you?
We are in Forsyth.

We have Warnock scheduled for Saturday Dec 2. Ossoff has not scheduled yet.
Same here! We will be in Atlanta on the 2nd but from everything I’ve seen/found… ossoff doesn’t reach out until later so hoping that is still on the table too.

Anyone else feeling the roller coaster this week? Thursday we were soaring - DS’s ACT scores posted and he met his reach score (yay!).

Yesterday, He had two MOC interviews and one seemed less favorable to a homeschool background (nae) while the other was great (yae). One member of the panel followed Ds out of his interview and told him “Your passion to serve really shows. if you don’t get a nom, go after prep.” DS would love the opportunity to attend prep and will follow up, but he was discouraged to hear an informed member of an interview panel suggest he might not receive a nom (nae).

One more interview for DS next week (and finals!) and I’m the one spilling about emotional whiplash, up folding laundry at 5 AM, while DS snoozes away. 😂 Geesh!

Hang in there mama! I feel for you as a parent of what you are going through right now and understand! My roller coaster of emotions had to do with my som needing a medical waiver during COVID times.

Look forward and don’t worry about what has passed. If your son ends up going to prep school or a year in college and has to reapply that’s ok!

We have amazing cadets who gained appointments after another year of maturity and experience!

Good luck to your son and to all of the 2028 candidates!

It's a roller coaster ride over here too.
DS was very encouraged and excited after his nom interview. Then I saw the names of his competition and tried to temper his excitement. He looked at me and said "Mom, I've done all I can do and I gave it my best. If it's not enough, then I will try again next year. I'm not going to stress about my competition." He was absolutely right. So we are going to continue to "eat the elephant " and the next bite is a nom. We hope to hear something next week. I hope your son gets great news and we all hang on until this ride is over. Haha!

I completed the whole application in August. I have been waiting on a medical waiver since then. I really hope I don't have to wait until February or March just to hear from them... I already followed up with my doctor and had him write up a paragraph, so when they ask for AMI, I'll have it ready. Good luck to everybody!

How would you know or see who his competition is?

If you think it is a roller coaster ride now, wait until your DS/DD gets in and starts Doolie year! 🤣

DS just checked the portal and there it was... Appointment to USAF Prep Program 2028! We were not expecting this as he has no nomination yet ! Some big decisions to come because he was just awarded a 4 yr ROTC a few weeks ago and had started to settle into this decision. No complaints from this mom...hard decisions are good to have. Blessed.

My son is a USAF prep student this year and I love that he’s a preppy. For our family and him it’s been a great school year.

Congrats! How does it show? Something replaces the Candidate Kit-Submitted line?
