USMMA Class of 2028 Waiting

Well I will make my first official post starting here.

My DS was waiting on the dreaded asthma waiver, but the waiver was granted quickly (less than 3 weeks) after I sent his requested pharmacy records and had him tested at an asthma specialist. He was then contacted by admissions this past week and was told that they never received letters of recommendation from his high school teachers even though his portal said his application was complete. So he scrambled and got those resubmitted late Friday night. So now we wait….

Good Luck to all!
It took us almost two months to get the waiver granted for asthma. His records were the same issue, but a lot of stuff, like his transcripts and seventh semester report, he sent to his AO, who uploaded them to his portal. I'd suggest reaching out to your son's AO and making sure the LORs are submitted, and no outstanding documents are needed.

Our DS is recruited for football, we believe there is still hope.
Being recruited helps for sure, however it also depends on the coach as some coaches push DODMERB and the admissions team like mine did. You can always ask the coaches for help or just an overall update on how the status is going for your application!

Hi there, my son is still under review - from what I've read the portal doesn't update if you are receiving an acceptance.

Anyone hear anything differently?
My DS's portl never said anything about Appointment. His medical finally received the check mark the day after DODMERB posted waiver granted. 2 days after that his appointment came via FedEx!

DODMERB has been a wild, crazy ride. DS underwent treatment when he was 9 months old. And he was cleared of any medical follow-up when he was three years old. So he underwent his DODMERB examination in late October, and he had to conduct a remedial due to the treatment. Here's where it gets fun! None of the CIV specialists will accept my DS until he is 18, which is 11 days from now. So, after four months of CIV, requesting a referral to an adolescent specialist. We had to take matters into our own hands and see his primary doctor, obtain his own referral, and then saw the specialist, who sent the report over, and he was cleared in a week. Now we're only waiting for an appointment (crossing our fingers).

DS just told me he is now under review.

Hold on to the last minute. My Plebe year roommate was packing to leave for Navy Bootcamp the next day in late June when his letter of appointment arrived. Luckily his mom checked the mail that day and how his life changed in the blink of an eye. Became a sea captain and now retired in Port St Lucie FLA.

Anyone know why the application deadline was pushed back to March 1? Also, with the new date, do you think appointments that are usually offered in April will now go out in May?

Hi everyone!:) Thank for starting this thread! So I talked to my DS’s AO a few days ago (called early am!) and decisions should be out by May 1. As USNA is behind (they are trying to get all decisions out by today per folks on the USNA thread) and everything rolls forward, I suspect that’s the case. My DS is under review and has been since mid-March when we went up to KP for his overnight. Good luck to everyone!!:)

Still waiting on waiver review. Fingers crossed.
Still under review; I know USNA just sent out a bunch of TD’s which is tragic but at least the whole thing will move (so many of those fabulous young people are taking it so well and moving right along to awesome plan Bs)! There are still so many stranded in Pending purgatory for USNA and I’m sure that’s the slow down on it all. Keep up the hope everyone!! Good luck!:)

So, here another question for our KP experienced members here: we live in Germany. Our DS' portal just changed to principal, fully qualified. Now its getting really concrete and he can't waiting receiving his letter. I have been thinking and researching a lot trying to find solid information about the cadets getting leave/ vacation. What is the longest block of time off they get? Travelling forth and back to Germany takes approx. 2 days (there and back) so I understand that he wont be able to visit home for only a couple of days.
For Thanksgiving and Christmas will there be more students who can't travel home? I just don't want him to be all alone... Who knows... May be doesn't even mind doing his own thing... But I am just wondering...

Congratulations!!!:) Here’s the upcoming USMMA school calendar! There isn’t much time as they have the trimester plan and go to school all year. I personally wish all schools from k and up did this:)!

We live on the west coast and our mids stayed with classmates on the east coast during shorter leave times. It introduced us to the kindness and generosity of the Kings Point family. There will be no shortage of places your plebe can stay. The fall break between trimesters is always longer than the Thanksgiving break so our kids always came home for the former and stayed with classmates for the latter. Keep in mind that if your plebe is on a sports team, he or she may be required to remain on campus for practice or games. Also, your mid will likely miss breaks due to sea year depending on what split they are on. Both our kids were A splitters and missing them at Christmas was hard on us. We did see one of them during sea year when their ship was at a nearby port. We got to tour the ship which was pretty cool. Both our mids traveled to Germany during sea year, so you might get lucky and see your mid then. Even though it is a long and expensive trip for you, I would recommend trying to make it to KP for Parents Weekend. Enjoy your time together now because your time will be very limited from here on out.

I appreciate you very much! Thanks for the insights. Yes, you are right - we got to make the best of the time left and we (the parents) are more flexible flying there and just adding a couple of days of leave. Rather than him getting stressed about getting back on time. And it is a very calming thought to know that he has a Kings Point Family with options there.
