Hey y'all! I wanted to make a thread for all those waiting on a waiver...we all know this process is not for the weak!

I have been DQed since mid-November and received a conditional appoint April 1st, but no word from the waiver authority

My DS received Conditional LOA March 7 and nothing from waiver authority.. Have to put Plan B in motion..

My DS is pending with a DQ...No updates at all in DODMERB it just says Under Waiver Review.....

Does everyone else's portal show DQ......,but under "MY Progress" Medical Exam ....there is an X instead of a check, but it does not show a date when DODMERB sent it to the NA?

There is an X, but it says the date it was sent to Dodmerb. It doesn't say a date when USNA received it.

I did email admissions about it. The response they said was
"Your medical will not be checked off until a waiver decision is made.

If or when you are in line for an offer of appointment to USNA or one of our preparatory programs, we will begin processing a medical waiver on your behalf."

Good info and thank you.....good luck......pulling for you

My DS just got his waver denied for USMA 😢 but is still under review for USNA. Does he still have a chance that USNA decision will be different?

I believe each academy has different standards, not to mention a different set of people reviewing, so a no go at USMA might be alright at USNA

🤞🤞 that’s true. My DS has been so calm in this whole process I thought he didn’t care. But that denied waiver hit him hard and it broke my heart watching him process it. With a Pnom he thought for sure he was going and his last ACL surgery was in 2021, he’s back to full sport as a 3 sport athlete. Now he’s questioning all his hard work and sacrifice meeting the SA requirements. This kid literally had no break with statewide leadership, academics and sports. I’m hoping he learns from this and not think that hard work doesn’t matter.

Waiver policies differ among the services, not arbitrarily, as missions, operating environments, equipment and gear differ. Sea services are usually tough if not impossible on color vision waivers, other services, not so much.

Some DQs are seldom if ever waived, some frequently, some less frequently, some are tied to a timeline (must be X years after surgery or off meds) or have a quota (USNA and #colorblind waivers).
