USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Not necessarily decreasing by the hour, as it could be right now they are rejecting people before they waitlist/accept others. But candidates as a whole don’t have good odds for an acceptance right now, as it should be safe to assume most acceptances have been sent out at this point. But that doesn’t mean that YOU singularly have bad odds, it could be they are just getting some things done before accepting you.

I’m a pretty qualified candidate with good stats and I know that I am 3Q and that no one from my district has been accepted yet. So I don’t really know what my odds are, I would imagine they are higher than pending candidates as a whole though, simply due to the fact that I’m still competing for my district slot.
May be pure scuttlebutt, but I have heard from several sources that would be potentially in the know that Annapolis is slightly behind this year, but working to catch up ASAP. Rumor is that they are only about 2/3 of the way through appointments.

NAVYALLTHEWAY hits brick wall. DD received her rejection email this morning. No NAPPS, no foundation, not even another month on a wait list, just a big R. Two nominations, Senate and Congress. Summer Seminar attendee. Navy Sports Camp attendee. Maxed out CFR at SS. No medical issues, 31 ACT. Attended private prep high school, 3.9 GPA, took calculus, chemistry, and physics. Took Spanish all four years, was a BB scholar, four-year elite athlete ( meaning she played one sport year round) three year varsity letter winner, voted team captain senior year, voted member of student council, held numerous leadership positions throughout her four years, attended basic leadership summer camp, advanced leadership summer camp, lead and organized retreats, freshmen indoc, and student athlete leadership meetings, sang in the choir, tutored underprivileged kids, and even held a part time job, but the Navy said no thanks. To those of you who got appointments congratulations. To those who didn't, like us, forget about it, the Navy doesn't want you. she is fortunate to have ten other schools that have accepted her, and we get weekly responses from all of them. We won't look back.

There are far too many perfect applicants to where they can't take them all every year. The best way to get accepted is to show them you are determined and apply again. No matter what your DD does she seems to have plenty of options where she can thrive outside of the Academy. Good luck to you!

USNA could not find a place for her, and that's unfortunate. She sounds amazing, and I'm sure would have thrived there. She likely will wherever she lands. The Navy did not turn her down, and would love to have her via other routes I'm sure.

A good time to reflect on what my DS's BGO said. Annapolis is separating diamonds at this point. Your DD is still a diamond, there just is not enough room for every precious gem.

Mine is still pending too. Saw two accepts for SC and SC01 so mine is preparing to accept second SA choice. I wish this entire process was a little more transparent.
Don’t focus on where the appointments are from. There are other nominations sources that can be used to give appointments. Until you get notified that you are out, you are still in the ultra marathon running. You can accept other SA and decline if USNA comes through. It is not a commitment.

Balanced advice. There is always hope until there isn’t, and there is no way of knowing how many offers of appointments are actually out there.

How dd USNA inform you of your 3Q status? Typically they don’t, but processes change over the years, so I am always interested when chsnge apparently occurs. DoDMERB and CFA are obvious, but the scholastic/academic/all other evaluated elements is the mystery element. LOA holders can usually assume they are qualified in this category, if any conditions they have to fulfill are not related. Noms are an administrative requirement.

Good luck!

I don’t want to oust the person who told me because I don’t think they were supposed to?? Lol

But, basically someone along the usna admissions pipeline told me.

Ima drop in here. I know some may be tired of my anecdotes, BUT. A TD is not the end of the journey. It just means you may see more real estate on your journey, if the SA's are your destination. It is not over until it is. If you look at the appointment thread of this year's appointments, it's chock full of re-applicants. If DS, DD wants USNA, or any SA, there is a way. From the posts I've seen, those that have a TD, have handled it with pure grace and class. Many will head out on their journey in a different direction. Chances are high if they work the plan, they'll be a much better applicant than this year. I know because we went through it. This is a test and many will be tested. If DS, DD wants to be a leader in today's military, they'll be tested often. To an old guy like me, a year isn't that long. To an 18 year old it's an eternity. Time passes quickly with Plan B, filled with much to do so they can do this again next year. "YES, NO, Not right now", is a thing. Hang in there Hopefuls

So well said.

Your daughter sounds similar to my son, he is still pending. The Navy didn’t say no to her, just USNA. Mason has said if he gets TD he will reapply. I am your daughter will make the best decision for her.
