USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Just got turned down so now off to plan B with NROTC at The prison on the Ashley(The Citadel)
Good luck! Get ready to "Embrace the Suck!" That was my DD plan C a couple years ago (Norwich was plan B, Marine option). But after setting foot on campus after being waitlisted she knew that was where she was meant to be. Hasn't looked back since! Says it has been the BEST decision!

Son just got the "wait-list" notice....He'll likely decline and just head to Notre Dame Navy ROTC, which is honestly probably a better fit for him. Best of luck to all those out there, regardless of whatever path you take for a commission. In the end of the day, a commission is a commission.

It is now "tomorrow" (Tuesday) for almost everyone. Sending good vibes to all left standing and love and respect to all that didn't get the news they wanted today. Having been here for two years, this seemed like a particularly brutal process this year, especially these last few days. This has been a very special place of love and support and amazing maturity and positivity from all. I feel honored that my family and I have been a part of this process with you all.

Woke up early.... I saw TD for my daughter. Her dream of being on the Yard with her sister is over but she has an awesome Plan B with USCGAS or USMMA. Two great options and really excited for her future. She really worked hard for these opportunities.

It has been fun, nerve-wracking, and stressful, but I enjoyed sharing the ride with everyone. On to awesome plan B's!! I wish everyone great success in the future... Go NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

For those designated as a Principal Nominee by a MOC, did it indicate so on your portal anywhere? It never did for my DS and now I'm wondering if there could've been an oversight. After reports of people getting Turned Down messages by mistake last week, we know mistakes can happen.
I believe MOC staffers upload a formatted slate via portal to USNA, with appropriate designations and method used.

Though USMA and USAFA are forced to offer an appointment to a p-nom if fully qualified, a slight difference in the legal language allows USNA not to. Most of the time, they do.
I can corroborate Capt MJ's s first statement as fact. If your DS was a principal nominee, it would have been indicated in the nominations section of the portal. By chance, was your DS notified by your MOC in writing that he was in fact the principal nominee? If so, the nomination could have been filed, in error, as a competitive nomination with other candidates on the slate. I hope that this is not the case. That error would be on the MOC staff and not the Naval Academy. Good luck to your DS on this one.

Yes, DS received a letter from the MOC indicating he was a principal nominee. With some prodding, DS emailed his BGO (with letter from MOC) for any guidance last night. Does it seem odd that DS would end up waitlisted with a p-nom? It does to us, but this is our first time going through this process.

I've heard that Navy isn't required to honor a P-Nom like the other academies are. I hope your son gets off the wait-list.

Thank
TD IL-12. On to a Falcon Scholarship at NWP then to USAFA (unless his VP nom to WP turns into an appointment.)
Wishing you both well on
Is it a bad thing I’m still pending as of Tuesday morning?
My thoughts are you are still in it until you are told otherwise. Go Navy🐐

Understood. My concern is that DS' p-nom wasn't even received/acknowledged in order to be considered.
