USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Waitlist is better than a TD, so congrats on getting to wait longer. With so many of us. Curious; how does one get so far in the process without nom? I thought they were essential.
VP nom. Supt’s nom. They would have to have somewhere they are eligible for to be charged.

I understand the Sup nom can come for those being charged to someone other than their primary noms (I think I understand that), like if you don’t win your slate but the SA still wants you. I thought a VP nom was a primary nom, as in one you receive as part of your application package along with MOC’s.

Anyone who applies for a VP nom technically qualifies for it. Only 5 can be charged there. The Supe can technically have 50 discretionary noms (if I recall correctly). In BGO training it has been repeated many times that USNA prefers to keep that number minimal, I believe most years it’s the 5-10 range.

My DS received his TD today. It was a grueling year as his MOC slate was never turned in in December after being told he was the principal nom. After notifying everyone the slate was never tuned in, it was entered in the last day allowed. Whew. Unfortunately, they never turned slate in unranked which took two months, until last week to get anyone to assist with correctly providing the slate where he was principal nom. Unsure if it was ever rectified in admissions. DS will reapply 2029. Congrats to all the 2028 mids and to all the applicants for competing this long process to be considered a candidate.

Go Navy ⚓

Thank you all so much🥹❤️ honestly so happy. Ironically we had an all hands call today (already was scheduled) and the captain called me up in front of everyone and gave a speech about me & the acceptance… it was so nice😭 all the waiting paid off for sure
I have been scrolling for about 5 minutes to find out if you had an appt or not! I was silently pulling for you! Congratulations! 🙏🏼🎉

Thank you! It really is a great option and we are thrilled with the NROTC unit there. His dad and I are alums -- and he became a Navy Pilot by attending OCS after graduation. There are so many pathways to make Navy dreams come true.
That sounds awesome! Love the options. My DS is still Pending here in FL District 22. Love seeing all the options he has available for him. I have learned so much from this group. Wishing your DS the BEST!

Same to you! Rooting for your DS here in Florida too...it's been a long wait for many here in the Sunshine State, I know he's ready. Here's wishing him a FQO soon!

THIS!!!
Remember everyone, there is MORE THAN ONE WAY to becoming an officer in the Navy/USMC. Getting rejected hurts, but it is not the end, you/your DD/your DS can always do NROTC (they can even walk on to their college's unit w/o a scholarship), or they can do OCS after they graduate college. At the end of the day, the goal is to become a Navy/USMC Officer and there are multiple paths to that goal. Nobody cares where you commissioned from, they care whether or not you are a GOOD officer. Good leaders can come from anywhere!
