Will I be able to validate courses at USNA after studying them at NAPs. Courses like Physics or maybe even a math course I know theres 3 different course options for each class but im not sure if which class you take at NAPs matters to USNA. Thank you!

First things first, be successful at NAPS in every evaluated area, including academics.

By the time you finish NAPS, your instructors will likely know what you’ll place into at USNA. NAPS courses are focused prep but are not equivalent to USNA college Physics. USNA Chem and Calc are called the Plebe-Killers. Youngsters (3/C) typically take Physics, and that one can be brutal. The Plebe syllabus is laid out at USNA.edu. Focus on what’s immediately in front of you for the next year, so you can earn your appointment.

If you want to get ahead of your matrix down the road, you can take voluntary summer school during one of your 3-week leave blocks. That gives you breathing room credit-wise during the regular ac year, might provide room for a minor, etc. Time enough to learn about that.

Now go PT and enjoy your freedom!

I got a 4 on the AP Phys 1 exam last year, would i be able to use that next year at USNA for C/O 29? or does it like... expire?

It doesn’t expire. There is a validation matrix on the USNa website. Yes, you can validate classes coming from NAPS. There are various levels of courses at NAPS. They will place you in these appropriately. Then the same thing will happen at USNA.

Great question for whoever will do your academic advising at NAPS.

You can also do the legwork and read all about validation policies and criteria at usna.edu, your primary source.

Perhaps a current or recent NAPSter can provide anecdotal insight.

Edit: Siri asked me to do some work for you.

After the 3 week Indoc, NAPS M/Cs take placement tests for classes, physics, math, chemistry and english/writing. Based on the results one is placed in Advanced, Regular or Fundamental versions of each class. I don't think you can validate any AP class - just use the most likely Advanced class for review and padding your GPA. There is more to NAPS than the prep classes so M/Cs, like Plebes, are keep busy and out of trouble. Oh, and never getting enough sleep, either.

So does taking the harder course kinda work like advanced classes where you have a weighted GPA and the more advanced class boosts it or is it all just set?

Fundamental<Regular<Advanced

Yes, advanced is harder and assumes you have a good foundation in the subject. I believe GPAs are unweighted at NAPS. Remember it is a Prep school. None of the courses can be used for credits. You will validate your AP classes when you get to Annapolis.
