jester0110,
My name is Gibran Mora and I am here to tell you some other options you could take. But before that, I know how you feel trust me.....I was DQ twice for a shoulder problem for the Merchant Marine Academy. I know the frustration you are were probably and still feeling. I was nominated twice from both senator and congressman. I felt the Academy was at my grasp, I dreamed about indoc and the just being part of the rich tradition the Academy provided. Till...DODMERB came and took that away. I called DODMERB and the admissions office but like they said "without that wavier, you are not going nowhere."
When he said that, I cried and felt anger towards the doctors who DQ me. I later I understood the reasons why they did what they did. As I retained myself, a very good friend of mine told me about a school called SUNY Maritime College. I applied and accepted me. Now my direction in life has led me to this school, and a education similar of that at the Merchant Marine Academy.
jester0110, I know how you feel, and trust me other in the country do as well. But in the end it is what it is, and you did everything you can and don't beat yourself like I did. Just remember there are other Military school, such as at SUNY Maritime College, or The Citadel. Basically don't worry about it, just think the Naval Academy is losing a great student and future leader.
Look for other schools, that offer the same degree you want. Want regimented lifestyle, look at the military schools including the maritime one. The medical requirements are not strict at all. Regular college....ROTC.
Sincerely
Gibran Mora
Future Student of SUNY Maritime College
