I would also say that NJ just went through this situation with Lautenberg. Gov.Christie appointed the NJ AG, Jeffrey Chiesa for the interim until the special election. Booker won the election. They decided to work together. Chiesa submitted his 5 picks, and Booker submitted his 5 for the slate of ten.
The fact is the MOCs had until Jan. 31st to submit a slate.
Nom applications typically do not close until the end of Sept at the earliest. It is not rolling. IOWS they will hold every application until the deadline has passed. You gain no advantage by submitting July 1st compared to the candidate that FEDEX the application overnight to be there Sept. 30th.
~ Most MOC noms that do interviews do not have the MOC in attendance. They have a committee that decides and the MOC just endorses them.
NC is not competitive like other states. The MOCs do not talk or share the wealth. Our DS was NC7 and he got every MOC nom. If your child is competitive they should easily get at least 1 Sen nom, if not both.
Not to go off topic too much, but jmpo use the summer to get the ROTC scholarship applications done. Meet with the ALO/BGO/FFR . Our DS spent his rising senior summer meeting bi-monthly with his ALO working on his essays. It was edited/re-edited and re-edited multiple times.
His ALO had him hold off on submitting his MOC packages until September. He had a 1320 SAT/33 ACT best sitting. He took both again in Sept. His final SAT was 1390 and 34 ACT best sitting. The MOCs used super score, and for him that was 1440 after the Sept. SAT.
He also spent the summer working out for his CFA, getting his DoDMERB done, and his AFROTC scholarship.
~ NROTC boards meet starting late August. AROTC is not far behind them. AFROTC is Dec. All of them are done by a queue system. First in First boarded.
~~~ It is not uncommon for ROTC scholarship applicants to be re-boarded.
Just saying don't have tunnel vision, make sure as you work on plan A that B,C, D, etc are being worked on at the same time.
Good luck.
