Vice-Presidential Nomination

The reason they say you must write personally, is because for a Presidential the AD member must request it, the applicant cannot request a Presidential unless they are AD.

For USNA, the candidate writes the letter and requests the nomination. They are told to simply attach supporting documentation for the parent.

For USNA, the sample "personal" letters for both the Presidential and the VP are included in the on-line catalog.
 
I can see how it would be confusing with the personal letter and then the actual application that they have online is in the form of a letter.
 
No matter though... I sent in an actual letter with the application and recently got a letter saying I'm currently competing for a vice-presidential nomination. So either way I guess it has the same effect.

His staff has not posted a new version but the application must be postmarked between 1 March and 31 October of the year prior to admission.

Make sure you review all nomination sources and apply for each one you meet eligibility requirements.
