CGA JUST CALLED! Wanted to speak to son who is still at school. I took down the cell phone number and called and texted son to have him call his admissions director back! My stomach was in my mouth...was it going to be good news, wait list or bad news?

Finally son calls me back...APPOINTMENT TO THE CLASS OF 2014!!!!!!

I am beyond happy...I think they heard me scream in Mexico...maybe Canada too!

Son is sooo thrilled...after AIM, he was sold!

I can't wait until he gets home!!!!

Thanks everyone for your support...I think I need to go lie down now!

CONGRATS to you and your son!!! That is such awesome news - very happy for you.

Got accepted!!

Woooo hooo!!! I got accepted!! Got the letter in the mail today. It was dated April 9th, so it was definitely a surprise, since I thought I'd be receiving a phone call! But praise the Lord! And thanks, officer, for your prayers!

Still waiting on waiver decision

I called the admissions office today and they still haven't been able to get to my medical file (Medical officer is on leave at the moment). Hopefully it turns out okay!

Congrats to everybody!

:jump1:

Okay...

Congrats to All who rec'd appointments!:jump1:
Especially the appointment in the mail...no phone call! :shake:

Keep praying for those of us who are left in the thread......Prayed sooo hard I think I hurt my head! :frown:

One of my AIM buddies was denied today :( , but on the bright side, I have yet to have received a letter or anything! This friend lives in the West, and I'm in Connecticut, so I think I'm in the final mailing of ~50 people that Objee mentioned a while back. Hooray for more favorable statistics!

EDIT- This thread is enormous...we should be proud

Hope

Good luck fellow Yankee Fan - at this point I feel just a glimmer of hope for my son and we're discussing alternatives. My wife won't have any talk of alternatives yet. God bless her!

No phone calls or letters here - anyone think something could come tomorrow?

You never know...last year our son rec'd TWE around this time...Keeping positive but realistic as well...I'm saying a prayer for those who have not heard anything just yet...including us!

IrishCoast & YankeesFan...sounds like we're all in close proximity to USCGA...We're 3 1/2 hrs from the academy in NY but the mail moves at it's own Pace!

Its funny Disey3 and YankeesFan, we are about 30 minutes from West Point. I used to take my son to every home basketball game. I even took my CYO and PAL basketball teams to play the Army youth teams. Great times too! Yet, we took one visit to the Coast Guard Academy about 5 years ago and it stuck in his mind. It was over this past Christmas break when our West Point graduate cousin spoke about the benefits of all of the Service Academies, that he really set his mind on the CGA. It is the only academy he applied to. Whatever the outcome, I'm convinced he'll serve in the Coast Guard. A few more prayers tonight...Best to you too!

a long road

It has been a long time since my son first applied to AIM. He went to session 1 and that gave him the drive to get all this work done. The application process for three academies was exhausting all around- the staff at school would groan when they saw him coming. It worked out well in the end with his appointment to KP and he still intends to commission into the CG. But all these students deserve a hand- sometimes I think there is hope for the future. So all of you stilll waiting- and to those who are no longer waiting- good luck in the future and go to class.
