Still hoping and praying the best for all of you. FYI. Remember they did a bulk mailing on Friday and said they would do another mailing on Monday. Well, we got the call on Saturday and then a BFE on Monday dated on April 9th. So it took two mail days to get to Texas. So maybe the Monday notification will be arriving today (April 13th), and at the latest tomorrow (April 14th). :thumb: I hope for good news soon. -officer

Not too much longer!

Hopefully she will hear something soon. We have a plan B, but can tell that she is not nearly excited about it as when she talks about the Coast Guard Academy. God has a plan for us all.

Being Patient,

Your daughter is just like mine, she has three options for plan B but all she ever talks about is the Coast Guard Academy. Today could be the day!

So true.

I was reminded this morning of something
We were driving home on the Turnpike after visiting family over Thanksgiving-
as we got close to home we watched this in the sky-

T-R-U (We have skywriters here) --S- --T G--O----D

It was a wonderful thing to watch that message being spelled out for us-it vanished in the wind just as we got off the freeway.
Isn't it comforting to know that He cares enough to send a message like that.

Congrats to Fairwinds and son as well as the other appointees! Hope that interview helped. Glad to see a lot from the forum make it.:thumb:

Well the Long wait is over for DS. No joy with USCGA. Oh well he has plenty of great opportunities ahead... Fair winds and following seas to those who got the nod.

My son just received a conditional appointment to the CGA in the mail yesterday!

Hello to everyone. I live in Texas and just joined the message boards after finding this site a few weeks ago and viewing all the great information and posts. My son just received a letter yesterday saying that he received a conditional appointment to the CGA, so he was thrilled. He just needs to repeat the PFE since he took it last summer during AIM and did average, but they wanted him to take it again and score a little highter. He doesn't believe he'll have any problem getting a much higher score because he's now in the best shape he's ever been.

I have been reading the posts over the last week or two for the CGA and thought I'd let others know there is still hope for an appontment. My son thought it was too late and he wouldn't get an appointment. He received a type 2 AFROTC scholarship back in March and was happy about joining the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M. Actually, he was very excited about this option and it made things much simpler since we live in the north Texas area and now our planning will be much different.

As with all of you, the application process for the service academys, ROTC scholarships, colleges, etc. has consumed our lives for the last year. I was so thrilled that all of that work paid off. My son attended the AFA summer seminar last June and the CGA AIM program last July. He had always dreamed of attending the AFA and then fell in love with the CGA after the AIM program. The first thing he said after the AIM program was that the CGA was now his first choice.

Assuming he gets his full appointment (he'll be crushed if he doesn't now that he's so close), we have to start some massive planning. This is such a change to his plans and now we have to think about his probable move to Connecticut in two months and all the other things that go with an appointment to an Academy. Since we are finding this out so late in the process, any feedback, suggestions or helpful hints from anyone would be greatly appreciated. How many other CGA appointees are from the Texas area (we are in the north Dallas area)? Thanks and I look forward to meeting other CGA parents in the near future!

Congrats mom and to your son of course.

I would suggest that you get ahold of the parent's and cadet's handbooks, which will tell you all the things you need to know about the Academy and the things you need to do. One of the biggest is getting a passport if he doesn't have one. Also the various shots which are required. R-day comes up quickly so there isn't much time to waste. Get the PFE done as soon as possible and I am sure the academy will act quickly to make it a full appointment.

Again, congratulations!

Congrats Momto3 and to your son :thumb:

JS3486 sorry to hear about the set back but it looks like your DS has several other good options best of luck for his future!

Hello momto3 and welcome. We live in Fredericksburg, TX and just found out about son's appointment on Saturday. Objee, Luigi, Shellz, Boss51 are all good choices to get questions about the inside scoop at the academy. If it's general insanity, I'm your parent of reference among many on this forum; it's been a butterscotch lifesaver for me and to my family whether they choose to admit it or not.:shake: Congratulations. -officer

... by a thread

Still have not heard anything, and nothing in the mail today, except a KFC flyer. I suppose if he received an appointment he would have been called yesterday.

Not necessarily, If they mailed some out on Monday, I think tomorrow could still have some good news. :thumb: -officer
