I have a question, by ROTC do you mean if we are currently in ROTC or if we are planning to do it if the waitlist doesn’t work out. I ask because I’m currently a high school senior who’s not in ROTC yet.

Does anyone have any explanation why the USAFA wait list on these forums is so much shorter than that of the USNA list. Does USAFA do things differently?

Not sure but I emailed admissions and they said the waitlist is very small. People may also just not be adding themselves to this post.

Yep. Just different internal admissions procedures. Don't read too much into it. It is rare for USAFA to even mention a waitlist.

The waitlist is relatively new to USAFA, they didn't have it 2 years ago. Each SA does the waitlist a bit differently from each other.

This year’s class is oversubscribed. Admissions has to wait until 1 May to see how medical and acceptances come in. At that point they will see if there is room. You cannot request to be put on the waitlist. Admissions decides.

No, there's no request process for that however don't give up hope. My youngest DS got a TWE from USAFA then within two weeks got put on a waitlist and one week later was offered a direct appointment. It's not over until I-Day. Good luck to all who are still hoping. There will be people who decide to go elsewhere, some will change their minds about service and others will fail to complete something or end up DQ for some reason so it's not totally over just yet. My oldest had a friend at The P who was given an appointment just over a week before I-Day.

Im having an hard time understanding why my daughter has not gotten even a notice of "No", waitlist, prep school or anything at all yet. Her package has been complete since January! May 1st is decision day for college, and since we haven't heard back from USAFA, I placed the academic deposit down on her university choice today. I couldn't wait anymore! I pray she is lucky enough to be granted an appointment to USAFA ... even paying the academic deposit is a struggle when you do everything as a solo parent
