Thank you so much for posting this! Also is it just me or does that average ACT look a bit low? I was under the impression the average was closer to 30?

Yeah the average ACT score is higher on the West Point admissions site.

The website class profile is likely class of 2019.

Average test scores are misleading for the service academies. They have a small student body, similar in size to most liberal arts colleges, but field Division I athletic teams. The impact of recruited athletes on test scores has a greater impact on an entering service academy class of 1,300 than it does on a comparable DI school with an entering class of 5,000 - 10,000.

There has been a greater effort to recruit football players recently. Maybe a drop in ACT average means a victory over Navy will finally be realized.

There's also been a push to recruit more prior service. They've typically had lower average test scores because they've been out of school for longer than the typical high school applicant and/or don't necessarily have as strong an academic background as your high school valedictorian looking at ivy leagues, making up for it with other strengths (i.e. experience, proven leadership, etc.).
