I've heard a few different things. I've heard they're cutting a lot, I've heard they're adding more, I've heard it will remain the same. If anyone has and information on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated- thanks!

Where are you getting your information? The last thing I ever heard about class size was straight from a regional commander saying they are going for 1225.

No one official. I just heard from an appointee and a few USMA students. Is 1225 the norm?

We were told by the RC that the max would be 1250, though other RCs have said 1225. That's a small variance and does point to an official stance of a small class.

    Class size of 2011 - 1305
    Class size of 2012 - 1292
    Class size of 2013 - 1299
    Class size of 2014 - 1375

Projected size of Class of 2015 - 1225

This topic was talked about last night at Founder's Day. ALO said that original plans were to reduce the number because 2014 was so large and WP wanted to raise the bar. 2015 is shaping up a very strong class and number will probably be as large as last year.

No, it will not be as large. Please do not confuse conjecture with fact. Admissions has been very explicit on this matter.

At the Charlotte Founder's Day dinner last night the West Point Garrison Commander and guest speaker, COL Michael Tarsa, said that the class will have 1250 to the entire crowd several times.

Re-read your original post. You used the word "projected" which leaves one to surmise the actual number is not set in stone. I only posted what was announced to everyone in attendance.

Arguing class size is a moot point. Technically right now USMA is breaking the law because they are above their end strength. Legally, 2015's class size has to be around 1250 new cadets. It is impossible for 2015 to be the same size of 2014 from a legal stand point.

Uh, actually, no I didn't use the word "projected." I said "the max would be 1250." Perhaps you should re-read. Thanks.

I stand corrected. Buff wrote the word projected in his post on class size to which I replied. Either way, it is all conjecture until the class in finalized.

Everyone needs to just chill a little. It doesn't matter how big the class is, is only matters if you get appointed. That's what all of this boils down to.

That's a little bold for an appointee to be saying about West Point.

The Congressionally mandated size of the Corps of Cadets is 4400.
This count is determined not on R-Day, not on A-Day, not on the day after Christmas break nor on Commitment day - but on the number of cadets at West Point the day before the last day of the Academic year.
Also, legally, they are allowed a variance.

The only reason I would say that is two days ago I heard the Comm of USMAPS say that exact quote at the Founders' Day dinner I went to.

If I was out of line by making that statement then I am sorry. In the future I'll try to attribute quotes to those who said them when making statements that are "out of my lane"

    jake s -
    thanks for clearing that up.
I'm sure you wouldn't want anyone thinking that you are of the opinion that USMA is breaking the law.

I second this, as I was also there at the Founder's Day Dinner event.
