    Hello,
I am a 8th grade who lives in southern Illinois and I want to join west point(not now obviously) What should I start doing and what should I be doing, and what should my first baby steps and beyond be to be on a fast track to west point?

Go to the WP website and read everything on it. Everything. Then do exactly what it says. So, for 9th grade, you will want to take the most challenging course load available to you. This what my son did. He was in 8th grade when WP became his goal. Also find ways to serve in positions of leadership. Each year we would read the website and use that as a guide in making course load decisions and he is now a cadet at WP.

    Good luck!

Join Boy/Girl Scouts and earn your Eagle/Gold Star award. There are two types of reading, reading technical for instruction and pleasure reading. Learn at your young age to enjoy both and master that important skill. Work hard on math at all levels, you will need math all four years of high school. And find a team sport that you enjoy and stay competitive at it.

You're on the right track starting this early. Its like a seed that is planted. Now you need to water it (feed it), give it sunshine (motivation) and watch it grow (challenge yourself)!

If you live in or near a city with AIM (admission information meetings) I would attend every one. Ours were always led by the RC so you will get the most up to date info and have the chance
to meet your RC. Here is a link to track admission events in your region https://extranet.dean.usma.edu/admissions/Pages/default.aspx

You are not "a 8th grade," you are "an 8th grader."

I agree with @tommyboy44, the broader point being that everything you post should habitually be presented with solid grammar and correct punctuation. On this forum we are seeing more "text" style posts with improper abbreviations and poor writing skills. Now is the time to polish this up....even on an anonymous forum.

    Good luck!

Please don't be embarrassed! Millennials will someday run everything and then it all will be different.

For now, just remember that details are important in all things military.

    Keep the faith!
