What To Watch As A COVID-19 Escape

Am currently bingeing my way through BBC’s “The Musketeers,” loosely based on Dumas. Swashing and buckling as an excellent work break escape. Also “Wallander” Swedish detective series on PBS, with Kenneth Branagh. And sneaking in sub-titled (DH doesn’t like sub-titles) in Italian “Thou Shalt Not Kill” homicide detective series, very well done. Paging @WT Door

I think we are watching the new Benedict Cumberbatch Netflix movie tonight or whenever it’s availabl, “The Power of the Dog.” Or maybe “News of the World.”

I was told that I need to watch Parks & Recreation, so I grabbed all 7 seasons. Haven't watched any yet.

@NJROTC-CC , I'm thinking you as I post this, remembering that you went on an epic canoe trip recently.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, we streamed this movie:

We took an interest in it, because one of the participants, who went the entire distance, was competing for the attention of the future Mrs. cb7893 at a time when it was established law that she was my girl. He would drop by her dorm room, nonetheless, and she would make him tea and cookies as would any good hostess. When he walked in the room, he would kiss her hand (perfectly normal in those days) and he would keep us abreast of their trip planning. I wasn't so much put off by his audacity as I was impressed by the quality of his game. In every respect these guys were hail fellows well met.

As luck would have it, he left on his adventure, so I scored a TKO and got the girl!

It is truly a remarkable story of guile, grit and bonds of friendship.

Looks interesting. I will look for it. I never did anything that daring. Although when I was younger, my late frat. bro' Dr. Bob B and I had finished portaging our gear around "Hulling Machine Rapids" on the East Branch of the Penobscot. We had to make several trips. All we had left was the canoe and we looked down at the rapids and said to ourselves, "portage the canoe? nah!!!! We can make that." So we tried it and failed. We were lucky to survive and lucky the canoe didn't get wrapped around a boulder, in which case we would have been stranded in the semi-wilderness. I still have a faint scar on my right shin.

We watched Nicholas Cage’s ‘Pig’ last night on Netflix. About a truffle pig. Interesting.

He used to be one of my fav actors.

I have heard lots of recommendations to watch Yellowstone. Where is it streamed?

Paramount Network

I highly recommend “Greyhound” on Apple TV. It seemed like the most realistic naval war movie I have ever seen (although I never served in the Navy so what do I know.) I didn’t mind the CGI. Sorry if this was already posted.

I did not go through the ten previous pages but I highly recommend The Wire. So good! Sorry if it was previously put up.

I've been watching a lot of MST3K on Youtube and Rifftrax (mostly the same guys and same routine) on Prime. It has always been funny to me.

Memories of college days right there!

A serious recommendation for @MidCakePa - HBO’s “Rome” series. Some well-known actors from UK stage and screen: Ciaran Hinds (Julius Caesar), Kevin McKidd, Polly Walker, Tobias Menzies, Ray Stevenson, Indira Varma, Lindsay Duncan, and many more. Plenty of action and scheming and not-seen-on-regular-network “interpersonal actions.”

Just finished binge-watching "Rome" on HBO Max, and I strongly second Capt MJ's recommendation. It starts around 52 BC with Caesar's victory over Vercingetorix, king of the Gauls, and the death in childbirth of Caesar's daughter, who is married to his partner, the great general Pompey. The acting is extraordinary and the sets are lavish. No spoilers, but there is a lot of sex, violence. and treachery. Also, a surprise ending.

Watched the first epi of '1883' last night after Yellowstone. Awesome. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw were brilliant as man and wife. Sam Shepherd...period. Taylor Sheridan must have more money than the central bank at this point and he doesn't need a printing machine. The following episodes will be shown on Paramount streaming.

DS is having all four wisdom teeth out tomorrow. While he is recovering, we are going to watch

A few Good Men
The Caine Mutiny
The Bridges at Toko-Ri
Run Silent, Run Deep

Not only one of the 2-3 best most entertaining series ever done it is the single most important—or -educational series ever done about life in the US for many. .

Season 4 should be watched by everyone who has the slightest interest in education and kids.

Season 5 :-(

For a movie that gets better and better each time I watch it I suggest watching the best movie this director ever made——Jackie Brown.

A perfect movie IMO

I binge-watched Lost in Space with my wife this week.
We really liked it.
