What is the real cost of a four year appointment to a SA?
There are claims and giant checks awarded to the tone of $400k.
Are the service academies (USAFA,USNA,USMA.USCGA,USMMA) equally worth the same?

    cost

My son is a C2C and the letter in the big envelope said equal to 425,000 dollars. It should be about the same among the USAFA, USNA and USMA. Coast Guard is less but still nothing to sneeze at!! My youngest son applied to USAFA, USMA and USCGA. He would be honored to attend any of them. He just wants to serve. His Favorite though will be USAFA so he can be with his brother. The last year or so ago the cost had risen to over 450,000.

    Cost to attend

    Hi
My favorite selling point for the coaches is when they tell a prospective athlete recruit..."Did I mention we take our own private jets to all our away games?" It worked for my DS, of course that private jet may be the cargo hold of a C-17.
    Regards
    John

That's only if you're in a money making sport I would imagine, because the coach I talked with said that it was always commercial or a bus unless they happened to be travelling to the same school as the baseball team, which is only expected to occur a couple of times next year.

My DD does cross country/track. She has flown mainly commercial, but did take a tanker to one track meet. She got to ride in the cockpit.:thumb:

I think when my sons went graduated high school in 2008, the amount was $415,000. Is it worth it? Well, Carnegie-Mellon, a school not too from us, is well over $55,000 COA now... and while a great school, certainly doesn't offer what a US Service Academy does. $415K? Well, There's a lot more at a service academy than just tuition and R&B.
