When would a MOC know if a person is not DODMERB qualified?

My DS has an LOA from USNA, but no nomination. His nomination is for the AF Academy. He prefers USAF Academy, but basically just wants to serve his country in uniform. We all know how competitive appointments for AF are for the class of 2016. Our MOC rep has said that all nominations have been given out...but that invariably some nominees either don't pass CFA and/or DODMERB. If that occurs for a USNA nominee, we have been told our DS will have that nomination. So, when would would the MOC know about disqualifications? That being said DS is anxiously awaiting a BFE from AF, like everyone else, we're anxious. The "squid" in the hand is more reassuring than the "falcon" in the bush.

Went through this last year

My DS had a similar situation last year; nom to USNA, LOA to USAFA. A candidate on one of our Senator's Air Force slate ended not being medically qualified so my son was then given a nomination. This happened the first week in April. DS is now a C4C at the Air Force Academy and living the dream. Good luck!
