Where is Everyone Taking Their ROTC Scholarship?!?!?! (Any Branch)

Congrats to all! I know NROTC does not cover room & board. But there are few colleges that will pay for room, board, or both. I heard Rice U. & BU offer scholarships to qualified students. Is this financial or merit based? I really love schools willing to dish out room & board like Sunny maritime, Rochester, RPT, etc.

Many of the schools offer room/board when a student has a tuition ROTC scholarship. It is usually not financially based but it does acknowledge the merit of earning the ROTC scholarship.

Here is a thread that contains a list of schools...

Thank you:) after reviewing the list some schools are vague about giving scholarships for room & board, which is not good because it deters kids from applying. Schools like BU, Rice, CMU, GWU & few others are vague. My question: does a student apply first & hope for R & B scholarship later?

Best bet is to call the cadre or recruiting officer.

Doesn't your DS already have a principal nom to AFA?

Usually these are automatic for recipients. You should call the schools' financial aid office for the most accurate and current status on the awards though. It should also be on their websites. Is your student a junior and looking where to apply next year?

RPI's room and board scholarship is automatic. If you have a merit based or need based financial aid, it will automatically convert to a room and board scholarship. If you don't have any aid, you automatically get the R&B scholarship. It's a great deal at an expensive school. I am sure it varies from school to school, but most will be automatic.

My friends son is also looking into RPI & Rochester, but heard RPI is a tech school with extremely smart competitive kids where as Rochester is more diverse? He will major in systems or computer engineering. He is only interested in NROTC schools that offers full R&B, which is unfortunately limited.

If he's interested in a STEM major (as he seems to be) then he can't go wrong with RPI academically.

Hey everyone! Post which college you will be accepting/have accepted your ROTC Scholarship at and which branch of service you are going into! I couldn't find a thread like this anywhere else (granted I didn't look very hard lol).

For starters, I received an Army ROTC 3-year Advanced Designee Scholarship to Ripon College for Fall 2017!

This is the celebration thread! Be proud of your accomplishments!
My DS won an Army ROTC 4-year to Cornell University for Fall 2017.

@Motorguy congratulations, my DS also won a 4 year to Cornell. He accepted the scholarship the other day. Now we just wait to find out if he gets into the university. Best of luck to you and your DS.
@cali-mom Congrats to you as well. Cornell should be sending out acceptance March 30th at 5PM via portal and email.
