Who is still waiting for NROTC Scholarship?

son had interview a week before Thanksgiving...no word

Have you called the Recruiter's Office? We hadn't heard anything as of last week, either, so I called and found out my daughter was not selected. They've had the last board, I believe. The recruiter said it might take weeks to get letters out.

The NROTC 4yr scholarship award does come as a letter and in a thin white envelope but it is fat - as i recall. It is a multipe paged letter accompanied by at least a form that must be returned by a certain date. The year my son received his - received 3rd week of november with deadline date of december 31st. My son did also receive group email from recuiter who had processed his paperwork, that came about 3-5 days before the envelope. His on line did show he had been awarded the scholarship which triggered a DODMERB account. Since he had already done the DODMERB thing for USNA it was already in play and did not have anything additional to do for that part.
As for the question about other NROTC scholarships - my understanding is once the candidate is a college, one should enroll in NROTC class (1 credit hour) and PT - and apply for remaining years scholarship. I am sure the unit at whatever college one would be attending would be delighted to discuss and guide you thru the procedure.

When I received mine I got a call from the CO nrotc admissions officers so it just depends on the board that evaluates you i guess

Plan B or wait it out?????

I emailed the office where my DD had her interview to see if they could find out any information for us. This is the email that they sent back. Hopefully, there is still some hope for some of us.

Mrs. (My name),

" I received an update to the results yesterday, but (DD name) was still a no decision. All selection boards have been convened, but the final results will be out sometime in May. I understand that plan B options need to be started soon, but I am unable to gain any more information until the board results have been approved through the chain of command, and sent out. As soon as I find something out we will let you know."

Sincerely,
(Officer's name)
