Please advise:
My DS is USAFA apoointee for 2024. His wisdom teeth are erupting, NO PAIN..there is a requisite 8 week recovery required according to "normal circumstances"....IF we are able to make arrangements to have his wisdom teeth removed by Oral Surgeon, what steps would be required to keep DS from being DQ? Again, he is NOT in pain, however ideally, we all would like to have his wisdom teeth removed, if we are able to make arrangements during this pandemic, to prevent any potential issues.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is not critical prior to arrival at USAFA. While people may tell you horror stories, I saw the majority of my classmates at USNA get their
Wisdom Teeth removed while we were at USNA with no real problems - maybe one day of missed classes. I had mine into my forties when it is supposed to be harder but outside of the appointment time (afternoon), I was ready to go the next morning.

If it were me, I would put this in the "too late/let the USAF do it" pile without worrying about it.

Hard letting go and relinquishing my hold on the cotrols..!!

Always Thank you.
As long as he is not in pain and there is no immediate urgency he will be ok and not be DQ and sent home correct?
I need reassurance...please...?

I don't think wisdom teeth ever HAVE to be removed. They just suggest if it needs to be done that you should attempt to do it before reporting. It doesn't sound like there is any need to worry about it.

A= Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions About the Process;" Paragraph 4 was designed for thousands like you :wiggle:

A= I've been in this job for 28 years, located at USAFA. I was assigned to KACH on West Point for 3 years on Active Duty. I know what I'm talking about. If this was last year or even last Fall, I'd say if the dentist/oral surgeon said they need to come out now, then do so. At this time in the process, ill-advised:wiggle:

A=Incorrect. Teeth move. Wisdom teeth move the most. Once erupted and even in specific cases prior to that, the reason for removal, is due to the nerves that run along the jaw line and the desire not to incapacitate a Service Member @ a critical time:wiggle:

Thank you. DS is just so excited...and we just dont want anything to hinder his admission. Amidst this Corona Virus, this process is even a MUCH scarier roller coaster!
I am feeling guilty for having put his wisdom teeth extraction off when the dentist suggested it back in December...

Thank you always, duly noted. Paragraph 4 was printed and hand delivered to me at the start of his applications...
My DS is in full control...I am trying to ease out of the cockpit, he has pushed the eject button for my seat sometime ago!!
Thank you!!
