Are plebes allowed to have a xbox 360 in their rooms at anytime during the academic year? Is it a privilege earned? Or are they just not allowed to have them at all?

You're probably right. I remember from an overnight visit (2 nights), the last night was a Friday and all 3 of my plebe roommates whipped out xbox 360's and we had a blast :thumb:

Plugging an unauthorized media device into a government network is a great way to get in trouble you want no part of.

Sorry, i didn't mean it in a deviant way. I'm not looking to break rules over an xbox... I was just asking if there was a solid, AUTHORIZED solution to it. maybe a differnt Wi-Fi provider other than the super important DoD network? or maybe theres a path to get it authorized, however unlikely.

Probably right? The answer provided is straight from the horses (ok, really the Cow's) mouth...he was sitting next to me when I answered the post.

If there's one thing I've learned on this forum, it's that you can hardly ever tell high school kids anything, especially candidates.

I remember being 18 and having all the answers too. I guess I've gotten dumber over the past 11 years because I don't have them all now.

I thought you couldn't have an overnight visit unless you had an LOA or offer of admission. I understood that it was just a one-night stay.

    XBOX 360 during plebe year

Here is question, Are you really going to have time to play on XBOX 360, with all you are going to be doing and have to do?

That's what I thought. Puzzled because Beat Navy's sig says "USMA 2015 Hopefull" and I wondered how he/she could have had a "2-night" overnight already. Are LOAs already out?

My DS, a rising yuk, and his roommate both had their XBox360s with them the 2nd semester of last year. DS's grades dropped some (fortunately, not a lot) so the game machine is going to keep me company at home this year. He figures he can play on one of his buddies' game systems but it won't be as easy to waste time on.

    Go ARMY - sink navy

NCAA official recruitment visits are 2 nighters -- any athlete being recruited and making an official visit after being invited stays for two nights.

Prepsters can also stay for two nights and no, DS was not a recruited athlete.

DS had two complete separate overnights, the first one was just one night at West Point, the second was for two nights at West Point and one night at USMAPS, the Army even picked up the airfare for him and the paperwork stated that he was on a "Mission" with "Orders". I understand they cut that out this year as they had a lot less money for stuff like that.

My cow says there is plenty of time to play XBox 360--tons of it, in fact, for those who are content to make C's, D's, and F's. :shake:

While some have the mantra "D's get degrees," A's and B's get you much better chances at choice branch and post assignments. :thumb:

It seems to me that goes against achieving excellence and not going for minimal standards.

I know personally I would be distracted easily with an Xbox.

It was an unnoficial athletic visit (I'm wasn't a senior). The Army Rifle Coach did not sponsor it, so I paid for the 2 night visit and was able to stay with a plebe on the rifle team for the entire time. The reason it was two nights instead of one is that Army had a home match against Kentucky on Saturday morning. The Coach wanted me to come watch a real NCAA rifle match, see how it's run, etc.

To mom3boys and scoutpilot, I wasn't trying to come across as a smarta$$ and I appologize. I'm learning from all of you.
