Year One At Kings Point In 8 Easy, Bearable Phases

This has been very helpful

This has been very helpful breaking the year down into 8 steps. Thank you Jasperdog. It is amazing that the year is winding down, and June is approaching. Luckily this year the weather has been better and the days weren't quite as dark and snowy.

New update on the perspective on Phases 5 and 6, DS is now a first classman and basically looks at Phase 5 and 6 and see them as probably the most stressful and hectic ~9 weeks of his life thus far. Given DS is about as far from being a "regcock" as you can get, I still suggest even more strongly that all plebes give the first class as wide a berth as possible during phases 5 and 6... #Justsayin'

Best to your son for this last tri - we'll be in your shoes a year from now.:thumb:

Yes, best to you son for the last stretch! I've heard from other 1classmen that this time period is more stressful than Plebe year. KDBax, can you believe our sons are next??? These last 2 yrs have flown by faster than his Plebe year.

Stress relief

There's a new puppy from the Guide Dog Foundation at the campus....tell the stressers to take 10 and play with the puppy for a stress relief session! I hear she is adorable. (Marge is her name))

Ahhhhhhhhh A new puppy????? I'm def. gong to tell DS about the new puppy!!! :thumb:

I guarantee DD has already met and fussed over Marge. :thumb: She loves the guide dog puppies. Great stress relievers!

For my DS, recognition may be at any time now and is definitely starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel:thumb:. For my DD entering with the class of 2016...here we go again:help:

Aside from moving this thread up (it really deserves a review by 2016 parents), Marge ran the 5K yesterday. DS said that was one tired puppy.

I noticed in the Indoc photos they had made her a dress white "uniform". Nice!

Another brush off for the 2017's to review and the 2016's to see how accurate it was! :bump8ls:

Time to bump this up to the top. The dark ages have to be dragging on up there.

reposting 8 bearable phases ...

perfect timing to repost this... I'm gonna share it with some plebe parents! :thumb:

Fear not - the dark days are almost over and soon, very soon those great young people you dropped off at the start of Indoc in July will start to see the light at the end of the tunnel ... some no doubt are already longing for the start of B split sea year based on stories they've heard from upper classmen...

As for the members of the Class of 2014 and their families as my own DS said on a phone call back in 2012 about this time of year about upcoming license exams s time - "sure dad, why should I be worried or tense, it's only like my whole life..."

I read this post last year prior to my DS going to KP. Reading it again now I have a much better appreciation for the wisdom that those words contain.

Bumping this thread up for the Class of 2018... Hope it helps and some find it relevant for their current situation as Indoc is underway...
