It's a bit far in advance to think about, but the last game of the season in November is against RPI in Troy, NY - practically in our backyard (DH has his Master's from RPI). We're planning to go and hope to be able to take lots of pictures!

Probably not a good idea to post his picture with his football number clearly shown.

It's ok 719, his next letter home may be ...
    "Dear Mom.
thanks for the moniker. I *HAD* been working on TurfWarrior, however 'baby boy' has now replaced it. I thought no one had noticed, except there was a banner across Land Hall at Cookie Cafe, and Delano brought out a chocolate cake with that written across it. Not to worry, all the Reg has forgotten the more complicated spelling of my last name, and opted for this simpler version. I am not going to send you a picture of the new uniform they are making me wear until Acceptance day.. .however, let us say that I have a greater respect for newborns and diaper rash. " ;) ;) ;)
    ........
Actually, congrats for making the traveling team! really, kudos all around. Believe me, he's worked really hard for that.
And don't worry, mom... These kids will give each other untold amounts of grief, regardless of what parents do.
Besides, it's out JOB to do this to them.

That would be terrific! He's #26 and starting Corner back, would love pix if you have any. Leaving this forum becuase not real comfortable with some comments about me calling my son "baby Boy" He's a Bad A^$^ and it's an affectionate term between us that he is fine with but kind of annoyed with anal weird parent's on this site....probably band camp parent's LOL.....Really just kidding. I am just a really happy person and happy Mom and didn't appreciate negetive comments so please feel free to email me aprilchobert@hotmail.com or go to facebook and join USMMA Friends and family group...over 100 members just with class of 2013. Take care

Yes, it's an affectionate term and a joke between us. I'm sorry if that offended you. He's 18 and he's fine with it...Wow....are you a grown up? Love this site for keeping up with the kids and fellow parents. Pathetic? yea not so much just a great relationship with my son. We are very close and I don't really appreciate your comment but I really hope it made you feel better. No reply necessary.

Thank you, I appreciate that especially with the nasty comments on me calling him Baby Boy....it's an affectionate term and a joke between us that he loves...but I feel really humilated about using. Thought this was a safe place for parent's ....???

Yes you are right the kids do that and it's healthy, normal and expected. Am I the only Mom here that think's of, calls, writes, Baby Boy....??? There is a lot of history, personal, medical etc....that has become not only an affectionate term but a family joke. Found this place for fellow friends and parents and myself have read some strange stuff but have too big of a heart to say anything negetive....Guess if he was a girl I wouldn't want to say hey beautiful girl or hey Princess.....Family......He's a Plebe and he's a football player but he knows and is fine with it and we know he's the Baby Boy and if you knew the history you would not be so negetive. Wow....thanks!

Just remember, parents aren't the only ones on these boards. Sometimes cadets/mids/upperclassmen chime in to keep the discussions lively. More importantly, they provide an insiders view of what goes on in the daily lives of our kids. While it may not have been eloquently worded, the advice may be worth heeding. To quote my favorite radio DJ of the 1980's out here in California...."fly low and avoid the radar." Good advice I think. Hard to do if you make a name for yourself for being mom's baby boy.

I'm sure your boy will be fine. By next week it will be someone else's post that gets dissected. Hang in there.

My post wasn't negative or mean at all, in fact, it was just friendly advice.

Posting a picture and a number, identifying him by position, might not be the best if he happens to get beat for 5 TD's vs CGA, for example.

    Nope, me either.
It is my life's mission to embarrass my Mid (at least, that's what HE thinks).
I'm proud as I can be of ALL of these Mids.
I'm just sitting over here in the corner, making whirring noises... my helicopter blades have been worn to nubs... but these are some amazing kids.

Hah, I've told both of our kids that it's in the parental job description. Parents are required to embarrass their kids.

bx22mom, I hope you haven't actually left this board over this. I don't think anyone was criticizing you for having that nickname for your son. I think everyone was harking back to that standard piece of advice for all plebes - "Fly under the radar. Do nothing to be noticed." There are mids who read this board, and not necessarily only those who post themselves. The last thing any of us parents wants to do is to make it harder on our dear kids during their plebe year. I think people are concerned that by identifying your son, and then using the family nickname, you were unintentionally setting him up for some grief.

I know I spent last year trying to be very careful not to say enough to identify my daughter outright. I'm sure that anyone who was trying could have figured out her identity without much trouble. But I tried to not be obvious. DD insisted to me mid-way through the year that she could look after herself and not to worry. But I still avoided too much information until this year.

I'll go back to spinning my rotor blades aimlessly now. I thought I'd stop worrying after she survived plebe year. I keep telling myself - "She's an adult. She's an adult. She will tell me if I really need to know. (If she can remember what she's supposed to tell me when she's actually writing an email.)" Somehow it's not working. . . .
