I recall that was the number range for candidates that start the application process. Some lose interest, some don't get the Nom and drop, injuries, grades, other opportunities, or CFA problems are part of the winnowing down process.

DS still pending in AZ. I agree that this forum has been hugely helpful. Any news from other people is better than nothing while we wait, semi-patiently. Thank you to everyone that has shared their experiences, both positive and negative, and to the veterans for keeping us all grounded.

My daughter was asked last week for the classes that she is taking this semester. I know that they originally had that information, but maybe they just want to confirm.

Also keep in mind, that nowhere near 14,727 applicants actually completed the entire application. I think they like to use this number because it makes the admission rate look so much lower. I have heard different numbers, but the general consensus is that well under 10k actually finish the application to be reviewed by admissions. "Started" the application and "Completed" the application are two very different numbers.
 
Just got the TWE too. USAFA has always been the goal, but USNA was more of an "If I changed my mind", so I guess at least USAFA still has a chance to pull through. Probably another purge day like others have suggested, and for anyone interested, there was no change in the portal prior. After receiving the email, I went from "pending" an hour ago to "turned down". Good luck to those still in limbo.
