@Capt MJ's USNA Class of 2028 Appointment List Updated by Poster thread will generate considerable excitement and anticipation. This thread is positioned on her right side for takeoff. The intent is to keep the 20208 Appointment List from getting inundated with anything other than appointment news, congratulations, and music interludes.

USNA 2028 aspirants, interested and concerned parties, put your speculating and comments here to keep the Appointment List on course and climbing with '28 appointments. Here's wishing only the very best to all candidates in their quest for an appointment.

My bad haha.
I want to attend the academy to go through the Marine training and come back to my home and become an officer.
The opportunity to attend Leatherneck seems awesome!
Study the information on the USNA website. Once you graduate from USNA you are an officer. If chosen for USMC you will be a 2nd LT. , then will go through additional USMC training as a 2nd LT. The active duty and former Marines on this site can explain more.

I've been on the site for about a year, I think?
I really haven't seen much advice for international applicants.
But I will get in. Because a seat at the academies aren't given, it's earned.
And I will earn my place.
I hope to learn a lot from you all!

International Applicant.
They will be expected to serve their nation according to the policies of that nation.

Something to discuss with your home country Ministry of Defense or whatever government entity is sponsoring you, the expectations for your summer training. Something to discuss with the Admissions international liaison too.

All the international midshipmen I have known returned to their home countries during their USNA summers for training at their home country service academy, at sea time, assignments with their naval attaché at their Embassy in Washington, DC, other military training, etc.

International midshipmen receive their degree and are usually commissioned by a senior officer from their Embassy’s military attaché staff in a private ceremony. You then head off to whatever your commitment is in your own country.

The midshipman we sponsored from Peru did a year at his own naval academy before coming to USNA, and in summer, returned to join classmates, and also did several weeks on one of his own navy’s ships. He also took leave (vacation) time.

You may or may not be able to participate in any USNA training blocks in the summer. Leatherneck is a summer block.

Training to become a Marine occurs after commissioning for new Marine officers.

Generally 3Q (academic, CFA, medical), if I remember correctly. Along with a verified nomination, this makes a candidate eligible for an appointment consideration.

Most candidates will be CPR for quite a while. Some, all the way up until 4/15/24.

Nobody except the Admissions team knows how many LOAs are sent out, ever. And there is no magic month. They can be issued at any time after the teams evaluate a candidate. Unlike other SAs, the USNA does not have a deadline of sending them out. For timing, my kid got his at the end of November in his first application cycle. Did not get one in his second.
