USNA Class of 2028 Waiting and Speculating

Was there another version with the language about sending a rejection at a later date? I only saw the version below posted earlier.

I think some more emotional intelligence could have been used to acknowledge the human distress caused during a tense time of the cycle. The “I apologize for any confusion” is too canned, doesn’t take ownership of the jerking around factor.

She’s 2012 grad, and the messaging could be more empathic. But perhaps this was what was approved…

There was not another version sent later. I did feel that the message seemed to be sent by an auto bot and not a human, but the navy had its own rules about those kinds of things. The “canned” wording was why I was unsure about whether I should respond or not to the email. I don’t think I’ve received a email form admission that doesn’t seem to be “canned.” While I’m not entirely happy with admissions, errors are bound to happen one way or another wherever there is tech and humans involved. It doesn’t make it feel any better, but life happens. And I’m sure they’ve got extra work to do as they seem to be behind and have a smaller class size to choose.

I’ve been checking this forum for about a year now but didn’t join. Had to see what the USNA admissions email said so finally joined yesterday :). My candidate is still pending too. Thanks to all who have participated along the way! You all have helped me when this is over I’ll do a recap post to help others in the future. In hindsight the process seems so straightforward but going into it blind was so very daunting. Hope a flood of answers come out today one way or the other. Potentially getting bad news on a Monday seems rough. Cheering for all these kids to get on with their plans!

Hoping for the best! Positive vibes for all those that are Pending.🤩

Curious as to how many took the original TD email as gospel, then immediately accepted another SA offer, then got the "Oops, sorry about that..." email. Talk about awkward!

Also curious to see if the USNA PAO gets out ahead of any potential media chatter.

Depends on what the scope was…if it was a handful, then likely not. Nothing has been put out to BGOs, so likely that it wasn’t a massive group.

It's not a good look. We can and should expect better. I hope nothing like that happens, again. They've had issues with their platform from the beginning of this cycle. Fix it. I don't think I'm misguided to expect better. This is, frankly, embarrassing.

This isn’t specifically for Holden100, but if you have portal FUBAR feedback for USNA admissions I recommend that you provide it to them and let them know how it impacted the process.

Lots of portal issues in the beginning, noted numerous times on this forum by various folks. Then things seemed okay. . .until yesterday. I just had a really hard time wrapping my brain around those emails and felt really bad for those kids who were in school trying to process that email and then the retraction email. I really hope today brings them fantastic news!

It's pretty egregious to be sent a rejection email, then a retraction a few hours later that basically says 'sorry, you're still in it, for now, but maybe tomorrow we'll send you another rejection.' The retraction should have said 'sorry, we're actually offering you an appointment.' I've never heard of any college doing anything like that, ever.
Air Force did something similar to my daughter for another program (not the academy). They sent an envelope with acceptance to a flight program and told her to share the news with everyone on social media. Two days later, she got an email saying it was a mistake. It left us with very bad feelings and a strong sense of distrust of anything that arrives in the mail. She was accepted to USMA and refused to believe it until two different sources confirmed it fully.

Portal changed from Pending to CPR two days ago. No change since. No email. No contact from MOC.
Could this change in status be another “miserable fail” on the USNA’s admissions office?
I certainly hope not, but I am starting to wonder….
I really respect and admire that so many on this forum absolutely love everything about USNA, but you have to admit this error is downright embarrassing.
Go Navy, Beat Army!!!
(My father was in a tank in Patton’s Third Army; can’t believe I switched teams.)
